Question #1: Towel or Robe Hooks, they are not shown on the Drawings but are mentioned in the Specifications, are we to include these and if so, how many?
Answer #1: Towel/Robe Hooks are noted on Drawing A-103/Detail 1C(E) as typical for each door, therefore include the following:
HEAD TYPE (1)- (2) HOOKS
HEAD TYPE (2)- (1) HOOK
HEAD TYPE (3)- (1) HOOK
Question #2: Door 131: Does the locksets need to match existing keying system, if it is then provide more information about existing keying system.
Answer #2: Locksets should match existing keying system. Lock/Key system requirements are described in Specification Section 08 71
00. This information is sufficient for the purposes of preparing and submitting a bid. Additional information will be provided after contract award.
Question #3: Please confirm the liquidated damages amount per day for going beyond the 270 calendar days allowed for this project.
Answer #3: There are no liquidated damages associated with this contract. However, the period of performance noted in Block 11 and Section F of the solicitation, 270 days after receiving Notice to Proceed, is mandatory.
Question #4: I have several issues regarding the specifications and Attachment C - Building #541. I would need from what rooms/locations the Lead paint is to be removed.
Example: Tunnel A on Attachment C has paint. Is this to be removed?
Tunnel A on Attachment C has paint on the main entrance door.
Tunnel A on Attachment C has paint in the electrical room. Is this in the scope?
Also the electrical room has signage stating that asbestos is present. Please clarify if this will be impacted during the lead paint removal.
There are two rooms not shown on Attachment C - (are these in the scope of work) There are additional small storage rooms/flammable storage sheds, which are part of the structure with metal doors; Are these rooms and door to be abated?
If all is within the scope, then I would have to believe that the quantity of 4500 sf is grossly inaccurate.
The other issue is how much of the material is located outside, since temperature will be a factor in the removal of the paint.
Answer #4: The quantity and location of lead paint to be removed is estimated as follows:
ENTRANCE – Outside wall area - approx. 200 sq. ft .;
“tunnel” area – approx. 700 sq. ft.;
Wooden doors - approx. 180 sq ft.;
small room” – approx. 700 sq ft.;
Two rooms in entrance area – approx. 800 sq. ft.
INTERIOR – “middle area” (shed and vestibule) - approx.420 sq. ft.;
Two rooms and stairwell area – approx. 1500 sq. ft.
TOTAL - 4500 sq. ft.
Question #5: Specification calls for abatement of lead paint from building no. 541. Can you please provide the plan and elevations of this building?
Answer #5: A plan view of Building 541 was posted on www.fbo.gov with the original solicitation and is titled “Appendix C”. No elevation view is available.
Question #6: Subs are also asking for Appendix A test results on the lead based paint.
Answer #6: Appendix A Paint Chip Lead Testing results are attached to this amendment and incorporated into the solicitation.
Question #7: Please specify the make and model of the undercounter lavatory sink along with a make and model for the faucet that goes along with it. Please specify the make and model of the acceptable shower diverters and shower heads. Print P-101, note 11 states to disconnect the shower pan and install new shower drain strainer. Please specify shower floor drain make and model.
http://www.fbo.gov/
Answer #7: The Government doesn’t select make and model. The contractor must select a make and model that complies with the plans and specifications.
Question #8: Are new showers to be installed with shower pans or will they have mud and tile?
Answer #8: Specification Section 22 00 00 2.5 states that shower drains shall have seepage pans.
Question #9: Is this building built on slab or is there a basement/crawl space below the showers?
Answer #9: Building 20 is slab on grade construction.
Question #10: Please identify the substrate for the lead based paint in the Armory Building. Also, how many rooms and does it include;
only walls or walls and ceiling?
Answer #10: The substrate is all concrete, walls and ceilings. See Answer #4 for location of lead paint.
Question #11: Please advise what gauge is the link fence. Size of diamond pattern and what schedule post and if you want cladding on post.
Answer #11: Fencing must comply with the drawings and Specification Section 32 31 13. Refer to Specification 32 31 13 Part 2 for fabric, post and zinc coating material requirements.
Question #12: Regarding Bid Option #1, do any of the finishes/repairs be included in the base bid or the option?
Answer #12: Bid Option 1 includes all incidental work related to removing and replacing the HVAC unit. All costs associated with that work should be included in the Bid Option 1 price.
ATACHMENT: Appendix A Lead Testing Results.
