Question #1: Door numbers as shown on floor plans and elevations are not the same. The exterior door numbers indicated on elevations are incorrect.
Answer #1: The door numbers on the floor plans are coordinated with the door schedule, while the door numbers on the exterior elevations (except for 101) do not match up. The plan numbers should be used and the elevation numbers should be ignored.
Question #2: I've noted a few conflicts on the door schedule. Doors #121 and 122 are both scheduled as hollow metal, but the frame for #121 is shown as anodized aluminum and the details for both frames (Type "F4") indicate aluminum. Door #131 is scheduled as HM x HM but door elevation "C" and frame elevation "F6" seem to be indicating aluminum. Frames for HM doors #130, 132 and 133 are scheduled as painted hollow metal but 'Type "F6" is detailed as an aluminum frame.
Answer #2: Doors 121 and 122 should be HM doors in HM frames. Detail 4AA/A601 is meant to illustrate the door frame location in the opening. Door 131 should be an aluminum door as shown in types C and F6. The schedule is incorrect. Doors 130, 132, and 133 are all correct in the schedule: flush HM doors and frames. As mentioned above, Detail 4AA/A601 is meant to illustrate the door frame location in the opening. The schedule is correct for HM doors. The details referenced do graphically show aluminum frames; the intent of the detail is to show the location of the door in the existing rough opening, not the material of the door per se. In other words, our intent is for any door to be placed in the existing opening in the same way, whether HM or alum. As such we note the door frame as "door frame" and deliberately leave specific material out of it.
Question #3: Upon review of amendment 0001 for the referenced solicitation, a question arose regarding the door schedule on Drawing A601. Doors #135 and #136 have no quantity. Without these doors, the total bathroom door is 35, the exterior door count is 17 and overhead door is zero for a total of 52 doors. This does not agree with the door count in amendment 001. Please verify that Doors #135 and #136 are intended to be included in this amendment or if a revised A601 drawing with proper door count will be forthcoming.
Answer #3: Amendment 0001 is correct. The quantities on Drawings A-601 (Sheet 18 of 31) are revised to show a quantity of one (1) for Door #135 and one (1) for Door #136.
Question #4: Is the building to be occupied during construction?
Answer #4: Yes.
Question #5: Is the work to be phased?
Answer #5: No.
Question #6: Ref S501-1C is the supporting steel for the new mechanical unit to be included in the base bid or option one?
Answer #6: This should be included under Bid Option 1.
Question #7: Ref A101-1A Door demolition- What is the current construction of the wall assembly? i.e.; cmu block with brick veneer. How thick are the existing walls where the door frames are to be removed and are the frames grout filled?
Answer #7: The walls at the heads are 4" CMU. The block is painted at the interior of the heads and it looks like drywall was applied to the outside face of the block, stopping just short of the door frame. The old details called for grout fill in the hollow metal frames.
ATACHMENTS: Spec Section 08 33 23, OVERHEAD COILING DOORS.
