Maintain grounds and landscaped areas within school boundaries to include area within one meter outside boundary fences that are on Government property.

General Grounds Clean-up RM
Police entire school grounds, including play areas and playgrounds, to remove trash, litter, feces and all other debris, natural and manmade, from the grounds. All such materials shall be removed to a proper disposal site the same day as collected.

11.2.1
Grassed Areas RM– Mowing and Re-seeding
Before mowing, remove stones (5 cm or more in diameter), debris (paper, bottles, trash) and branches. Mow all areas containing ground cover (defined as cultivated grasses, weeds, dandelions and other ground-hugging non-ornamental vegetation. when the ground cover has reached an average height of 8cm. Mowing shall be performed so as to avoid “burn spots” in ground cover. With each mowing, trim and edge grass around trees and bushes, along sidewalks, hedges, fences, posts, picnic tables, sports fields and playground equipment, buildings and other bordering installations, to the same height as the surrounding grass. All trash, debris, and grass cuttings visible on the lawn surface removed the same day as mowing to a proper disposal site. Re-seed bare or worn patches in conjunction with mowing operations in a manner that will ensure adequate growth. These services shall also be provided for the area within one meter outside boundary fences that are on Government property.
Maintain average grass height approximately 8 cm. All trash, debris, and grass cuttings visible on the lawn surface removed the same day as mowing to a proper disposal site. Borders edged, and trimmed to the same height as surrounding grass with each mowing. Bare or worn patches are re-seeded in a manner that will ensure adequate growth. All ground cover areas shall look well-manicured at all times.

11.2.2
Grassed Areas RM – Irrigation
Irrigate all grassed areas that are reached by water hookups and hoses as required to maintain acceptable growth, coverage, and healthy condition of grass.

11.2.3
Weed Removal – Paved Areas and Buildings
Remove all weeds and grass growing between paving stones of walkways and parking areas, in cracks and spaces between walkways and buildings, on building roofs and walls, in atria and courtyards, paved picnic areas, and all other areas where vegetation is undesirable. All such vegetation shall be removed the same day it is cleared to a proper disposal site. Maintain uniform edging along paved surfaces and landscaped areas.
All defined areas free of unwanted vegetation. Facilities present a neat appearance.

11.3.1
Sport Fields Grassed Areas RM – Irrigation
Irrigate Sports Fields as required to maintain acceptable growth, coverage, and healthy condition of grass.

Sport Fields RM – Fertilization and Chemical Weed Control
Sports Fields shall be treated with a combination fertilizer/weed-control product IAW manufacturer specifications and accepted local codes, regulations and practices.

11.3.4
Sports Fields RM
Inspect football /soccer fields, baseball diamonds, running tracks and sand pits, grassed recreation areas and rake and/or level minor high or low spots in conjunction with grass cutting operations (see Para. 11.2.1 above). These areas shall be swept, cleared of debris, (including moss) and watered as necessary to sustain and promote appropriate grass functionality.
Football/soccer fields, baseball diamonds, running tracks and sand pits checked and grassed recreation areas are raked and minor high or low spots raked and/or leveled.

11.3.5
Sport Fields - Mowing
Before mowing, remove all organic and manmade debris. Mow playing area of sport field to maintain a maximum consistent height of 10 centimeters and a minimum consistent height of 6 centimeters. Mowing equipment shall be of a type and quality tailored specifically to sport field maintenance. All trash, debris, and grass cuttings visible on the lawn surface removed the same day as mowing to a proper disposal site. Re-seed bare or worn patches in conjunction with mowing operations in a manner that will ensure adequate growth.
Sport field grass surfaces shall be maintained at a consistent height and texture to maintain a high level of functionality and appearance.

11.3.6
Sport Field Preparation
Before the beginning of each sport season (football, soccer, softball, track and field) sport fields shall be prepared for the appropriate sport. Holes shall be filled, sand refreshed, grass raked and mowed.
Sport Fields in a safe and useable condition at the start of each sport season.

11.3.6.1
Artificial Sport Field

RM Artificial Turf

Remove debris, natural and manmade, prior to start of any maintenance action. Loosen and level the turf infill material and replace any displaced material. Refill with new infill material as required. Inspect areas for excessive wear and tear such as penalty spot and goal areas. Inspect all lines and seams, Brushing/dragging of entire field surface area with approved equipment. During extreme heat of summer, water surface area for cooling effect.
Field is safe and ready for use during normal practice and game times during sporting seasons, football, soccer, track, etc…

11.3.6.2
Artificial Sport Field

Annual Maintenance Artificial Turf

Annual maintenance performed as per Manufacturer recommendations. This includes inspection and repair of infill, seams, lines and accessories by certified maintenance engineers, treatment of pitch with specialized equipment and products, maintenance of pitch surroundings.
Field is safe and ready for use during normal practice and game times during sporting seasons, football, soccer, track, etc…

11.4.1
Shrubs, Hedges, and Trees RM
Prune all solitary shrubs within the work site, trim all shaped hedges, and prune tree branches that obstruct walkways (to the extent permitted by local codes, regulations or practices). Remove and properly dispose of all cuttings.
Pruning and trimming accomplished in a workman-like manner with typical shapes of plants retained. All cuttings removed and disposed of properly.

11.4.2
Planted Areas RM
Dig bare grounds approximately 5 cm deep, taking care not to harm the plant roots. Remove any weeds including the roots, debris, dead plants, and dead parts of plants. If suspected poisonous plants, shrubs or berries are encountered, immediately notify the COR. Chemicals shall not be used to remove growth.
Planted areas are neat and free of weeds, debris, dead plants.

11.5
Removal and Disposal of Natural Debris
Clean leaves, twigs and branches from the entire school grounds, excluding wooded areas. Ensure that walkways, paved play areas and steps are cleared to prevent safety hazards. Remove and dispose of leaves that same day at a proper disposal site

Ice and Snow Removal

11.6.1
Ice and Snow Removal – Walks and Pathways RM
Clear ice and snow from areas designated on Site Plans for each facility supplied as Exhibit E. Ice and snow shall be removed first from school bus Pickup and Drop-off (PUDO) areas to main school entrance or entrances before removal from other indicated areas. Accumulated ice and snow shall be removed on school days NLT 30 minutes prior to scheduled arrival time of school bus(es). Apply sand, grit or other approved traction aiding material to icy walks and pathways as local regulations permit to allow safe walking areas for students and staff. Pathways shall remain free of ice and snow accumulation during normal duty hours.
Designated ice and snow removal areas are free of ice and snow accumulation during normal duty hours.

11.7
Grounds Maintenance Sustainment
Grounds Maintenance Sustainment that is required over and above the routine requirements described in this section above and is estimated to cost more than the Work Request Threshold will be processed as a Project Work Request following the instructions in the PWS.
Timely estimates submitted and all work performed as specified in Project Work Request.

11.8
Non-Routine Grounds Maintenance Services
Provide non-routine Grounds Maintenance Services, which may include any or all of the items described in 11.0 through 11.7, above, stemming from special events, acts of God, vandalism or other mischief, as specified in Work Orders or Project Work Requests. Prepare and submit estimate of work to be performed, and perform as specified in approved Work Order or Project Work Request. (Note: All non-routine Grounds Maintenance work under €2,000 is not included in the FFP cost of Grounds Maintenance Services)
Timely estimates submitted and all work performed as specified in Work Order or Project Work Request.
