Title: 67 -- School Bus Digital Surveillance System
Description(s): ON BOARD VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM (OBVSS) for DoDEA
PACIFIC SCHOOL BUSES
This is a Request for Information Only – Do Not Send Proposals at this Time
The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Pacific Procurement Division located in Okinawa Japan is issuing a request for information (RFI) seeking sources and product information, servicing and any associated maintenance and sustainability via vendor capability statements for a follow-on digital camera surveillance system (video & audio) for possible use in approximately 245 school buses in the DoDEA Pacific school districts (mainland Japan, Korea and Okinawa). The system should consist of on-board school bus video cameras for surveillance of every angle (front and back) plus entrance of the school bus with audio and facial recognition properties, along with recording, storing and viewing system capabilities.
The purpose is to increase safety/security and to deter inappropriate behavior occurring on and around school buses that transport elementary/middle/high school students in
Okinawa, mainland Japan, and South Korea.
We are looking for sources that can offer an "off the self" commercial solution with installation, sustainment, and extended warranty capabilities. The system will be installed on buses manufactured/operated in Japan and Korea. Even though the interior of the buses has A/C and heating, the operation of the buses may in some cases be in extreme cold/hot and humid climates. The system must not be intrusive or complicated to operate and be weatherproof, shockproof and able to operate despite rugged road conditions or bus transportation movements. Installation requirements should not be extensive. As part of the system, DoDEA Pacific Procurement is seeking a solution using solid state technology to easily store and transfer the data from the bus to a viewing device and then send short video/audio clips via e-mail to the appropriate authorities with ability to record without operator assistance. All system parts and any associated equipment must be TAA compliant. If other system options are available, vendors are encouraged to fully detail and describe their functionality. Also, the systems are anticipated to have built-in GPS modules.
Interested and qualified sources are requested to provide a statement of current capability to provide the specified products and services along with a detailed description of the system functionality. Submission should also include company name, point of contact, email address, telephone number, business type and DUNS number. All information submitted is at the offeror’s own expense. The Government will not reimburse respondents for any costs associated with submission of capability statements in connection with this sources sought request.
Please submit your capability statements with proposed products and service information to:
