Instructional Guidance Objective 1a

The E3ATR2E020 00AA POI will be used to teach blocks I through VI in the E3ATR2E020 00AA and the E3ATR2A020 00BA Electronics Principles Courses; the material for these blocks is identical.

Use the electronic presentation to cover the course overview and administrative details.

Brief students on the benefits and credits awarded by CCAF and the semester hours awarded for attending this course. Explain that EP is a prerequisite for each initial skills course. Understanding this information is necessary for successful completion of specialized equipment training school (SETS).

Give each student a copy of the student instructional materials. Discuss the instructional materials that will be used in the course. Emphasize that the student text in each block will be issued and recollected at the end of the block, so they cannot be personalized. Explain that only "approved" calculators may be used throughout the course, including during testing. Students may be provided a calculator for use in block 1, but they are NOT provided beyond that.

Talk to the students about the importance of effective study techniques. This discussion should include the importance of completing all assigned work. Explain that disciplinary action will be taken for non-compliance.

Discuss the Air Force Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Prevention and Detection. Each student should understand they play an important role in all areas of this program. The Facilities Abuse video may be shown at this time.

Conservation of training materials, resources, and energy is everyone's business. Give examples of how individuals can make a difference.

Explain the purpose of the training evaluation program including the student feedback process. Emphasize that it is not a complaint sheet, but a way to suggest improvements in the course. Encourage students to be specific. Ensure they understand there are Student Feedback AETC Form 736s available in each classroom and they can be completed at any time. The student feedback program includes the on line student survey to be completed in Block VI.

Define Air Force Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. Present information about Air Force core values, as referenced in "The Little Blue Book", using modeling, one-way stories, guided discussions, two-way stories, simulations, lived experiences, or case studies. For additional information - http: www.usafa.af.mil/core-value.

Discuss Air Force Doctrine. Integrate talks about Air Force Doctrine where appropriate in each block of the course. Information should be taken from the Basic Air Force Doctrine Plan. For additional information see www.doctrine.af.mil.

Discuss the six steps of Operational Risk Management (ORM) and how it applies to situations, personally and professionally.

Discuss the importance of safety in the training environment. Identify possible hazards in the electronics environment and Dolan Hall in general. Integrate job-oriented safety Air Force Occupational Safety and Health Standards (AFOSH) standards, environmental issues (including pollution prevention awareness), and publications awareness (emphasize compliance with instructions is mandatory).

Identify personal protection items the students may encounter throughout technical training with emphasis on lab blocks.

Ensure the students understand there is ZERO tolerance in the area of sexual harassment, unprofessional relationships, and hazing. Be very specific and use examples. This is a two way street; don't do it and don't tolerate it. Point out AETC Visual Aid 36-6, Points of Contact for Students and Trainees located on each classroom bulletin board.

CORE VALUES - Instructors will present AF Core Values, as referenced in The Little Blue Book, to all Air Force students. Throughout the course, instructors will “weave in” information about core values, using active learning techniques. These techniques are identified as guided discussion, two-way stories, simulations, lived experiences, and case studies. Instructors will use their discretion as to the technique to be used and optimum times to inject the core values information.

RISK MANAGEMENT - Integrate risk management principles and processes throughout the course as appropriate. When and where appropriate, collectively incorporate the six-step ORM process; identify the hazard, assess the risk, analyze risk control measures, make control decisions, implement risk controls, and supervise and review.

TEAM OBJECTIVES - When the objective calls for team performance, the instructor will rate each member according to the individual’s performance and participation in the group or team. When possible, each member of the team will rotate positions during the evaluation. No student will be signed off for simply reading a maintenance document. This prevents those objectives that require team performance from being circumvented.

Explanations

* A task knowledge scale value may be used alone or with a task performance scale value to define a level of knowledge for a specific task. (Example: b and 1b)

** A subject knowledge scale value is used alone to define a level of knowledge for a subject not directly related to any specific task, or for a subject common to several tasks.

- This mark is used alone instead of a scale value to show that no proficiency training is provided in the course or CDC.

X This make is used alone in course columns to show that training required but not given due to limitations in resources.

NOTE: All tasks and knowledge items shown with a proficiency code are trained during war time.
