Cannon AFB, Question Set #8

FA860419R8017 -- ZCN802

1) Just had another call from the mobile system engineer – I think I know the answer, but did not want to assume.

RE: the static carriage that has the building column in it and type “A” rack – please confirm that the engineer DOES NOT require rack to surround the building column – They are concerned about the safety factor of having the open area between the shelving sections – thinking that possibly someone could become trapped in that space if they were in there and the adjacent mobile carriage was closed.

I think they are overthinking – but it’s always a possibility I guess -

The engineer does not require rack to surround the building column.

2) Do you anticipate getting a response on the brand of the existing mobile system? Or do you think just proceed with an option?

Obviously it will be expensive to have to remove the old rails and refill the cutouts – do you think it would be accepted to just go over the old rails if they could be totally hidden with the new system?

Still waiting on a response from the base POC on the manufacture of the existing mobile aisle system. However with how old the system is, I don’t believe the manufacture is still around and I am anticipated not getting an answer for that. We will proceed with the option to reuse the existing rails or install a new rail system with elevated flooring. This option is now written out in the updated spec.
