Cannon AFB, Question Set #5

FA860419R8017 -- ZCN802

1) We see the following issue that may need to be addressed or explained further The total rack length with 96” beams and 3” uprights is 496” long and the total of the 5 rail spacings at 89 11/16” equal 448 7/16”. That leaves 47 9/16” total overhang which is excessive if it were split equally, however by the drawing the back rail is too close to the wall for more overhang, and leaves the 2’3” space as shown on the drawing. Is there a reason for this overhang?

Also need to know the total length of the existing rails and the distance from the wall to the back rail to accurately quote.

There wasn’t a specific reason for the overhang. The drawing was designed similar to what the current system is. We are going from an automated system to a manual system using the same rails. This is the just the location of the current rails now. If an overhang is not needed that will be acceptable for the design. The existing section on the Cover PD has images of the existing rail system that is to be used. The Current system from the images show a slightly overhang as well. The existing set of rails includes 4 rails at roughly 86’ long and 2 at roughly 82’ long. The distance from the wall to the back rail is approximately 3’.

2) Appendix B Paragraph 3.2.3 appears to be a mistake. It says that bin shelving which conforms to appendix d shall be on the carriages, but there is no bin shelving in this project, and appendix D is cantilever. Please confirm there is no bin shelving missing.

This is a mistake there is no bin shelving missing. Section 3.2.3 should not be in there.
