Question Set #1
Engineer’s answers to question set 1 are in red.
How far apart are the buildings? Will they require separate deliveries be made for material?
The buildings are very close to you another. Separate deliveries won’t me necessary. Advised by the base POC to deliver them to the one location. This will be discussed at the Post Award Technical Interchange meeting.
The Cover PD states that we are to dispose of scrap material on a base recycling facility, or if unavailable bring it off base. Is there an on-base facility? If so, will they provide a dumpster for us to use for scrap metal, or will we be required to transport it ourselves, and then make appointments for drop off? This is much more time consuming for installation to have to do verses having a base provided dumpster for scrap, or having an outside company bring one in and makes a huge difference in price.
After talking to the base POC, the base does not have a recycling center. This will be discussed at the Post Award Technical Interchange meeting.
The processing counter in the cover pd is not shown in the building on drawing -03, but the detail drawing is there. Is the counter the way the detail drawing is shown, just not shown in the building?
The processing counter is shown on AF Drawing ZCN802-03. It is located right in front of the push back rack. The counter drawing details are accurate.
Drawing -02 says ESD matting on all type “C” wide span, but there is no spec in the appendix for the ESD matting.
The ESD matting specification is stated in Appendix C section 3.2.4. “For each type ‘C’ shelving, decking shall have an ESD mat of sufficient size to cover the storage bay of the shelving.”
App B-Mobile Aisle 3.2.6 states the rails should be no more than 7’ apart, but we are using the existing rails that are 89 11/16” feet apart. Assumption is this was just a type and we are to use existing rails as is.
Updated Appendix B. section 3.2.6 now states Existing Rails are positioned 89” apart.
For type “C” wide span on the mobile aisle it is not clear if there is a beam at the bottom on drawing -02. The specs suggest it since you asked for 4,400 lb uprights, but the way its drawn is hard to tell whether it is a beam that is missing a line, or its just showing the floor. It is assumed it is a beam making 4 levels for this type of rack
Type C wide span on the mobile aisle has a beam on the bottom. I updated the drawing ZCN802-02 to make it more clear.
For the wide span on the mobile aisle (“A” and “B” and possibly “C”), it is highly recommended the bottom beam be flush to the floor to prevent anything from falling

This option is acceptable.
