Text version

Minutes from the Question and Answer period during the 28 July 2008 site visit.

1. The weight on the MAMS bunkers cannot exceed 500 lbs.

2. The average annual maintenance expenses are $8,500. The teeth on the grinder last about 1-2 years and at this time are approximately $4,500 (not including labor). The teeth on the stump grinder will be replaced prior to the start of the new contract. All equipment listed on the GFE list will be in good working condition prior to the start of the new contract.

3. The Air compressor in the equipment shed belongs to the current contractor and is not included as GFE.

4. The equipment shop is bldg 919 and will be available for the contractor to operate out of. The equipment yard is also available and the contractor does not have to share the space with anyone.

5. The oil tank reserve will be added to the GFE list.

6. The fuel tanks in the yard are owned and operated by the current contractor. The government will not reimburse the contractor for gas. It is fully the responsibility of the contractor to supply the fuel for their equipment.

7. Two (2) 2-wheel Honda “quads” and one (1) Mule will also be provided and will be added to the GFE list.

8. The government will not provide any tractors.

9. The Bob Cat at the compost yard listed on the GFE will be removed because it is not longer serviceable.

10. There has not been a need for the grinder to be operated during the winter months. However, the compost is still turned in the winter months.

11. The only other equipment other than the grinder that is operable in the compost yard is the tumbler, and it will also be listed as GFE.

12. The stock pile of material to be grinded cannot come closer than 6 ft to the fence, and there is no limit to the height. HAFB produces more wood chips than we use.

13. The compost area will be completely cleaned up prior to contract turn-over. Only the compost will remain.

14. All equipment, to include GFE, will be maintained by the contractor. No equipment besides the grinder will be replaced by the government. Due to the high cost of the grinder, this is the only equipment that the government will replace should it become inoperable and the cost of repair outweighs the cost of a new machine.
