Q&A from Site Visit

Durability of Materials, 5 Years? More?

Materials need to be able withstand the elements for 5 yrs. This should include exposure to intense sun/heat, strong winds with gusts up to 150 mph, excessive rain and humidity.

What types of materials?

Attached is a picture of what we had in mind for the exterior of the Connexs. So whether the material is sprayed on or nailed on is up to the contractor. It just needs to meet the requirements for weather. The one hard requirement we had was aluminum or steel doors/windows and door/window frames on the exterior. This is due to the quick deterioration of the wood from the elements.

Covered Walk Ways?

Again the slide has a picture of the general idea of the walk ways. However, during our site visit the contractors stated that any coverings on the sides or top would not meet the wind standards. If that is the case then we can just leave them as is and paint them to match the buildings. This would include painting the stairs.

Concrete Time Restrictions

We would like to have this project done as soon is possible. Our hard date for completion should be 1 Nov. If this is not possible due to sourcing of materials from off island then we understand. However our last class of the year will be in November. We would like to use that class as a test to see how our designs and updates work.

End of the Calendar Year Deadline?

Our next classes are 7-23 September 15/ 5-21 October 15/ 2-18 November 15.

Electrical Outlets/Room configuration

We were looking for a basic room configuration in the 40' Connexs of two rooms. Each room should have one outlet. These rooms should also have interior doors. In the 20' connexs the single room area is fine and again we would like two outlets. We don't need anything too fancy just the basics.

Again here is the checklist from the SOW just so I don't forget anything else.

A.(1) 40 foot double wide container.
-Remove and discard existing doors and replace with (2) lockable

standard size aluminum industrial doors with (2) aluminum industrial door frames

- Install (2) aluminum or stainless steel industrial staircases with skid resistant top surface:

o Dimension: (1) 2 feet tall by 6 feet in diameter.

oDimension: (1) 3 feet tall by 6 feet in diameter.
-Remove and discard existing air conditioners and replace with (2)

new air conditioners; same specs as existing air conditioner.

-Inspect/repair circuit breaker.
-Inspect/repair all electrical components (wiring, lighting, etc.)
-Inspect and treat for mold.
-Replace flooring with linoleum.
-Seal container from the elements and insects. Facility is having

recurring issue with wasps entering via cracks/gaps, and water damage.

B.(1) 20 foot single wide container.
-Remove and discard existing doors and replace with (2) lockable

standard size aluminum industrial doors with (2) aluminum industrial door frames

- Install 1 aluminum or stainless steel industrial staircase with skid resistant top surface:

oDimension: 3 feet tall, 6 by 6 feet in diameter.
-Remove and discard existing air conditioners and replace with new

air conditioners; same specs as existing air conditioner.
