CHAPTER 5
FULL-MISSION TRAINING
Section 5A—Special Instructions
5.1. Content. This chapter outlines the full-mission training accomplished during JTACQC.
5.2. Facility Requirements. Range site capable of supporting the use of the following: live-fly CAS aircraft, lasers, land line for telephonic debriefs and basic classroom/briefing materials. Aircrew capable of performing the following is desired: DACAS, laser spot tracker, VDL, Have Quick and secure operations.
5.3. Instructional Method/Media. Performance/evaluation method is used during an FMT. The student will develop proficiency in the planning, preparation and execution of CAS TAC.
5.4. Instructor Requirements.
5.4.1. FMT evaluations require a student-to-instructor ratio of 1:1.
5.4.2. Field training will normally be scheduled using the optimum of one instructor evaluating no more than two students during a single training day. However, to maximize training within existing limits of range time, equipment use rates, personnel and scheduling constraints, field training may be scheduled using a maximum of one instructor evaluating no more than three students during a single training day. Scheduling at the maximum rate is at 6 CTS/CC discretion.
5.5. Performance Evaluation Instructions. Each FMT event includes evaluation of the following tasks: Mission planning (staff coordination, game plan development, execution product development), mission briefing, mission execution and debriefing. The instructor will record grades for the performance evaluation on an ACC Form 206.
5.6. Required Equipment.
5.6.1. The following TACP equipment is required for all FMT missions:
5.6.1.1. 3 x multiband ultra-high frequency/very-high frequency/frequency modulation
(UHF/VHF/FM), satellite communication (SATCOM) capable radio.
5.6.1.2. 1 DAGR.
5.6.1.3. 1 ground laser designator.
5.6.1.4. 1 PLRF 15C
5.6.1.5. 1:50/1:250 maps of target area, or imagery provided to the student by instructor.
5.6.1.6. 1 pair of night vision goggles (NVG)/IR pointer if required.
5.6.2. The following individual equipment is required for all FMT missions:
5.6.2.1. 1 pair binoculars.
5.6.2.2. 1 compass.
5.6.2.3. 1 helmet.
5.6.2.4. 1 body armor.
5.6.2.5. 1 laser eye protection.

5.7. Field Preparation and Operation Tasks. The following tasks are required for all FTX locations and FMT missions:
5.7.1. FTX Load Out. Issuance of TAC Kit and equipment specific for each FTX location.
5.7.2. FTX Prebrief. Briefing on specific ROE for each FTX range location, dissemination of training objectives for each location and dissemination of the concept of operations.
5.7.3. Travel to/from FTX and to/from the OP. Time spent traveling to each specific FTX range and the specific OP locations within a given FTX range.
5.7.4. FMT Prep. Student development of graphics and plans needed to conduct a specific FMT.
Section 5B—Mission Descriptions
FMT-1 Terminal Attack Control Mission 1 Evaluation
Field 2.0 h
Given appropriate information and scenario, student will plan for the integration of live CAS sorties into the ground scheme of maneuver and fire. An instructor will act as the various USA staff entities and appropriate control agencies for the purpose of mission planning and integration. Student will conduct mission planning and coordination before briefing the execution plan to the instructor for critique. Instructors correct deficiencies prior to student’s execution of live training. Student will receive scenario and receive a minimum of four controls, but strive for six total controls during the first FMT event. The initial two controls will be based on a low threat/no deconfliction required scenario. The next two controls will incorporate a deconfliction method a student must deconflict with aircraft. This could include a simulated UAS, rotary-wing asset, artillery or a fire support coordination measure. Student will execute the CAS mission with the maximum amount of instructor assistance IAW AFI 13-112v1. Prerequisite: SIM-7
FMT-2 Terminal Attack Control Mission 2 Evaluation
Field 2.0 h

Instructors correct deficiencies prior to student’s execution of live training. Student will receive scenario and receive a minimum of four controls but strive for six total controls during the second FMT event. The initial two controls will be based on a high-threat scenario that will incorporate a SEAD mission. The next two controls will be based off a low threat no deconfliction method based on instructors guidance. Laser and/or night may also be introduced to meet MQT objectives. Student will execute the CAS mission with a minimal amount of instructor assistance
IAW AFI 13-112v1. Prerequisite: FMT-1
FMT-3 Terminal Attack Control Mission 3 Evaluation
Field 2.0 h
Given appropriate information and scenario, student will plan for the integration of live CAS sorties into the ground scheme of maneuver and fire. Student will conduct mission planning and coordination before briefing the execution plan to the instructor for critique. Student will receive a scenario and receive a minimum of two total controls, but strive for four total controls during the third FMT event. The initial two controls will be tailored towards student stress factors. This could include driving while controlling, running while controlling during simulated troops in contact situations (TIC), multiple ACA’s, simulated overbearing commander, or multiple JTACs in the area, etc. This will be based off the instructor’s evaluation of the students’

This will benefit the student by simulating real world stress factors to better prepare the student for combat. Instructors correct deficiencies prior to the student’s execution of live training. Student will execute the CAS mission with limited to no instructor assistance IAW
