Question 1: Please provide architectural elements/details of the existing FMB per specifications 4.3 "Design, furnish and install a pre‐engineered metal building (PMB) 4,000 SF building in accordance with the existing PMB currently utilized in the NWDA. The PMB exterior shall match existing architectural elements of existing buildings in the adjacent areas i.e. sloped standing seam metal roof. Building design to incorporate the following:" These can be existing plans that match the final installed structure or detailed photographs and a description of what is acceptable to the Government.
Response 1: Please see pictures below:
Question 2: Please provide interior minimum acceptable ceiling height for the PMB.
Response 2: Requirements are outlined specifically in the 20 April 2018, PXLY14‐0469, SOF CNS LZ/DZ Storage Facility, Statement of Objectives also refer to the LZ DZ Conceptual design and the other attachments:
The RMO requirements and specs for the LZ/DZ rollup doors are recorded in para 4.3.6.1 Two (2) roll‐up doors (16' x 20') offset from the center of the short end of the facility; one on each end. Base the eave height on height of the 16' X 20' roll‐up doors
Question 3: Please provide specifications for spray on insulation ‐ R factor, fire rating, depth etc.
Response 3: Please see “LZDZ Spray Foam Spec”
Question 4: Do rain gutters require drainage to insure movement of run off away from the building, or is it acceptable to have run off be 2‐3' from the exterior of the building?
Response 4: The location of the facility is very flat. Moving runoff away from the building would be preferred.
Question5: For the storage space do you need shelving designs, cabinets, lockers or other to be added to the SOW? Please provide specifications for size and quantities for 4.3.4. "The remaining layout shall have enough storage space to house LZ lights, light‐alls, cargo chutes, 32 range drones, iron ponies (land based) moving targets, 80 stationary infantry target lifters, and target materials."
Response 5: The Range Management Office will purchase the storage and shelving units The 15' X15 fabrication area equals 225 sq ft, the remaining 3775 sq ft will be used to store the equipment identified in para 4.3.4 .
Question 6: Please provide the quantity of outlets and approximate locations for such ‐ or if acceptable we will use our discretion in the design package ‐ each quad receptacle every 20' on walls with option for hanging 'drop' power supply at 4 locations with 50‐100' retractable extension cords.
Response 6: Along each wall place 2‐ three‐phase outlets for a total of eight. Use the design package ‐ each quad receptacle every 20' on walls with hanging 'drop' power supply at 4 locations with 50‐ 100' retractable extension cords.
Question 7: For the parking area semi‐improved (caliche) parking access do you need this to be striped/marked? Depending on the subsrate this might not be practicable. If not do you want blacktop or concrete for parking?
Response 7: Caliche is standard practice for the range. No striping will be needed. NOTE: The site will need to be over‐excavated, because beneath there's a sixty feet layer of sand. Building foundation should be six inches above grade and drainage allowed to slope away from the building.
Question 8: Do you require perimeter fencing for this facility? If yes, then please provide the distance away from the building as well as the gate size for vehicle entry, man entry and if multiple ingress, egress is required? Please provide specification for fencing including wind stop, height, barbed/concertina wire, lighting, security including shakers, IDS, motorized gates, card/Cypher locks etc.
Response 8: No fencing needed on this project.
MAFR RSC Layout:
Question 9: Please provide a complete list of equipment to be connected to ascertain the service size and any step‐down transformers. We will need loads and expected duration for each load to be able to establish annual KWH calculation. Please provide types of equipment that will run concurrently.
Question 10: Can MAFR provide a complete list of all welding equipment or woodworking equipment with the electrical and mechanical utility connections. This will also affect the duct collection system sizing.
Response for 9 and 10: Please see list below:

Question 11: Please provide drone battery information (type). How many outlets would be required to charge an adequate amount of drones to provide service for a week?
Response 11:
Batteries are UB12350K sealed lead acid 12 VDC 35ah each.
Chargers are Input: 110VAC Output: 12VDC 20 amps.
We had planned to place the drones along one of the long walls to charge.
We do not have the new plans for the building so we are not sure how long the wall is now.
Ideally there should be a duplex 110VAC outlet every 3 foot along the long bare wall (no doors)
Question 12: The eyewash to be furnished by contractor shall be self‐contained and installed on wall with flap‐down eyewash. Is this acceptable?
Response 12: Yes, since there will be no water in this facility.
Question 13: It was stated that MAFR will provide the soils report for the adjoining buildings. Will that be provided in the next addenda?
Response 13: Please see attached soil report for the other area.
Question 14: The RFP calls for “industrial strength exhaust fans”. What are the required air changes per hour to meet AF regulation or standard?
Response 14: Question still being answered.
Question 15: The RFP states to provide a “hazardous location classification”. Will MAFR provide a listing of all chemicals, etc. to be utilized in the building to provide a hazard classification? Is the hazard classification Class I or Class II due to hazard materials or some other materials? Please clarify the “hazardous location classification”.
Response 15: Hazardous materials will not be stored in this building. There will be one bottle of Oxygen and Acetylene for use.
Question 16: The RFP states that there are to be fume hoods “if required”. Fume hoods shall be installed at each welder. MARF to provide type and size of welder for design
Response 16: See attached equipment list for welder type , design hoods to standards.
