Historic Culvert Restoration
Historic Culvert I-7 (Range Side)
1) Restoration involves non-abrasive complete removal of all paint and cleaning of the culvert headwall, and replacement of missing stones. In lieu of water blasting, rebuild the historic headwalls or flip the existing stones over, so yellow paint side is inward and not visible. Contractor shall relay stones in an un-coursed random rubble type pattern. If Contractor decides to remove paint by water blasting method and some paint remains in pores of rock, as long as it is not noticeable from 20 feet away, that will be okay.
2) Contractor shall install 2 new yellow reflectors attached to one new galvanized steel pole with concrete foundation on each side of each headwall. Reflector poles shall be located about a foot past the edge of the shoulder.
3) The culvert pipe is 18-inches in diameter and shall be replaced completely with new HDPE pipe.
4) The distance from back of headwall to back of headwall is 27’-2 1/2”. This is close enough to 28-ft to NOT REQUIRE moving the headwall to achieve a back of headwall to back of headwall distance of 28 feet.

4) Additional brush clearing is required for 20 feet from the culvert headwall towards Salado Creek and the width of the headwall plus 5-feet on each side. This shall include clearing all brush and small trees and insuring the area around the pipe outfall is unobstructed and provides positive drainage.
