JBSA – CAMP BULLIS

2 April 2018

1) PROJECT SCOPE

(1) The purpose of this project is the replacement of the existing 16 foot wide road and increasing the width of the pavement on Wilderness Trail from 16-feet to 24-feet, beginning at the at the paved circle at the Overhead Water Supply Point on Wilderness Trail, which is approximately 588-ft south east of the intersection of Camp Bullis Rd and Wilderness Trail, and proceeding approximately 6,336 linear feet along Wilderness Trail, ending at the first road approximately 330 feet past KD Range Bravo on Joint Base San Antonio – Camp Bullis, Texas. See SOW Attachment 1.

(2) The pavement on Wilderness Trail is damaged by heavy vehicles, at the end of its life cycle, and shall be replaced. Additionally, the existing pavement width shall be increased to 24-feet.

(3) Most daily traffic can be bypassed around the construction site. However, the Ranges on Wilderness Trail typically have traffic everyday including weekends. When weapons firing is taking place on the Ranges, the Contractor can still continue to work on the road. Contractor shall brief all employees and subcontractors that they are not authorized to go out on the ranges at any time, whether firing is in progress or not.

(4) The scope of pavement work includes demolition of the existing 16-foot wide asphalt road down to the subgrade, lime stabilization of the 24-foot wide subgrade, installation and compaction of the 24-foot wide base course, installation of new 24-foot wide asphalt pavement, restoration/relocation of historical headwalls/culverts, replacement of old culvert pipe with new pipe and mill and overlay.

2) DESIGN

(1) The Design Submittal shall include: Cover Sheet, Overall Site Plan Sheet, Construction Notes, Plan and Profile Sheets, Roadway Striping Plan Sheet, and Details/Pavement Section Sheets.

Contractor shall design the street such that it includes the radius of the adjoining streets and or driveways.

The Contractor shall use City of San Antonio Specifications and the requirements contained in this SOW to fully develop technical specifications if required.

Specifications: The Contractor shall comply with the following applicable City of San Antonio Standard Specifications for Construction found at: https://www.sanantonio.gov/Portals/0/Files/CIMS/StandardSpecifications/CIMSConstructionSpecifications062008.pdf
