National Ground Water Association and analysis of hydrologic data (falling-head tests). Based on that data, he supervised or prepared the site-specific well design for each water supply well. He also analyzed aquifer test data, and provided a recommended permanent pump setting and discharge rate for each new well.

WELL CLEANING, EVALUATION, AND REHABILITATION PROJECTS

Mr. Trickey has been involved in numerous well evaluation/rehabilitation projects for municipalities and private water companies to improve the pumping efficiency and/or the pumped water quality through cleaning, re-development, and the structural modification of the well. These projects included site-specific well analyses utilizing flow profile analysis (spinner flowmeter logging or dye tracer profiling) under both dynamic (pumping) and static (non-pumping) conditions, along with and depth-specific groundwater sampling to determine the hydrogeologic, chemical, and biological conditions of the well. In addition, conventional aquifer test data were collected and analyzed for each well, and a well video survey of each well was conducted to assess its structural condition. Clients for whom well evaluation/rehabilitation projects were conducted include: 12 wells for Global Water Company in Pinal County, Arizona; 2 wells for City of Phoenix, Arizona; 4 wells for the City of Mesa, Arizona; and 2 wells for Arizona Public Service in Phoenix, Arizona.

The tasks performed as part of these projects included: evaluation of the spinner logs or dye tracer flow profile data, as well as the depth-specific (zonal) groundwater samples under dynamic (pumping) as well as static (non-pumping) conditions; collection and analysis of aquifer test data; and review of well video surveys (under both static and dynamic conditions). When the well evaluation indicated structural modification would improve the well, the well rehabilitation design was based on these analyses.

WELL SITING AND HYDROLOGIC STUDIES

Mr. Trickey has been involved with multiple well siting studies and recharge siting studies covering thousands of square miles in Arizona, including projects for private water purveyors such as EPCOR; Arizona Water Company;

Global Water Company; Freeport-McMoRan; Arizona Public Service; Westbrook Village Golf Club; and Pinetop Lakes Golf Club. He has also conducted well siting studies for municipalities in Arizona such as the Cities of Flagstaff, Kingman, Peoria, Phoenix, and Surprise.

Well Siting and Prioritization Matrix Study, EPCOR Water, Bullhead City, Arizona Project Hydrologist and Project Manager for a well siting and site prioritization study focused on increasing groundwater production capacity and water quality for EPCOR Water’s Bullhead City Service Area. The investigation included GIS database assembly, GIS map and layer creation for future integration into EPCOR’s own in-house GIS, review of physical (hydrogeologic, water quality, proximity to planned use areas, etc.) and financial/political (existing infrastructure, land ownership, etc.) well siting considerations, and prioritization of favorable sites for further exploration through pilot hole or slim hole drilling. An extensive series of GIS well siting maps and a GIS-based prioritization matrix database were developed to analytically score, rank, and prioritize identified potential well sites based on numerous well siting criteria, each of which was attributed a criterion weighting according to their relative importance based on iterative discussions with EPCOR. Drilling, testing, and well installation methodologies designed to better predict and control (through well design) water quality and production capacity of future production wells were outlined for EPCOR, along with the associated costs and risks of each.

Well Siting and Prioritization Matrix Study, City of Flagstaff, Arizona Project Hydrologist and GIS specialist for well siting and site prioritization study focused on expanding groundwater resources for the City of Flagstaff in order to meet rising demand. Study included GIS database assembly, GIS plate map creation, geomorphic fracture trace analysis, detailed review of physical (geologic, hydrologic, etc.) and municipal/political (existing infrastructure, land ownership, public perception, etc.) well siting considerations, and prioritization of favorable sites for additional investigation through geophysical surveying. An extensive series of GIS plate maps and a GIS-based prioritization matrix database were developed to analytically score, rank, and prioritize identified potential well sites based on numerous well siting criteria, each of which was attributed a criterion weighting according to their relative importance based on iterative discussions with the City.

Butler Drive Aquifer Storage and Recovery Well Siting and Prioritization Matrix Study, City of Peoria, Arizona Project Hydrologist and GIS specialist for a well siting and site prioritization study focused on siting an aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) well in the area of the City of Peoria’s Butler Drive Water Reclamation Facility. The study area encompassed approximately 120 square miles in the Superstition region of East Salt River Valley. Fourteen GIS maps and a GIS-based prioritization matrix database were developed to analytically score, rank, and prioritize identified potential sites based on the siting considerations.

Verde Valley Hydrological Investigation and GIS Well Database Production, City of Cottonwood, Arizona GIS specialist and numerical groundwater modeling support for simulation of long term, demand-driven impacts on the regional aquifer and surrounding hydrologic system. The investigation utilized archived records and Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) databases, driller’s reports, lithologic logs, and historic reports to construct a comprehensive well database for the Verde Valley Hydrologic Sub-basin using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Historic and modern water level elevation maps, drawdown maps, clay isopach maps, and hydrogeologic cross sections were then produced using the comprehensive well database.
