Plans Preparation Services for TL-3 Railing

1.0 BACKGROUND:

The Prime Consultant (BCC Engineering) was retained by the Department for Contract CAA38 to provide Districtwide Structures Design Services for various projects on a Task Work Order basis. The Wabasso Road Bridge No. 880053 was retrofitted with an Index 521-480 vertical face traffic railing barrier in 2005. The bridge carries two 12’ traffic lanes with 4’-6” shoulders. The shoulders are used by bicyclists so there is a need to provide drop off protection. As a result, District Structures had requested the participation of the Prime Consultant to provide the structural engineering services to prepare Plans for a pedestrian/bicycle railing mounted to the back of the vertical face traffic railing barrier retrofit.
