About this file

This is a Bid Specifications document issued by the City of Minneapolis Division of Traffic and Parking for the Hawthorne Fire Alarm System Replacements project (Event #4234). The project involves the complete replacement and upgrading of the existing fire alarm system at the Hawthorne Ramp Facility, including removal of existing fire alarm system components and wiring, installation of a fully operational fire alarm system, and coordination to maintain normal facility operations throughout construction. The work encompasses electrical divisions including common work results for electrical, demolition, low-voltage power conductors, grounding and bonding, hangers and supports, raceway and boxes, identification systems, and electronic safety and security fire alarm systems. The specifications establish comprehensive requirements for project management, including preconstruction conferences, bi-weekly construction progress meetings, submittal procedures with 15-business-day review periods, and detailed protocols for substitutions, product requirements, waste management, and closeout procedures. The contractor is responsible for mobilization, temporary facilities, and comprehensive documentation including record drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and training delivery.

The specifications require adherence to current codes and standards including the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, International Building Code, and State and Local Fire Codes. The contractor must demonstrate manufacturer qualifications with at least ten years of satisfactory service in similar applications and installer qualifications including NFPA 70E electrical safety compliance. All work must be finished, tested, and ready for operation, with the contractor bearing responsibility for any incidental accessories necessary for completeness. The contractor is permitted to use existing building electrical service and water at no charge for temporary needs. Final payment requires completion of all contract work, submittal of record documents, operation and maintenance manuals, warranty materials, and training documentation. No specific pricing terms, award dates, or contract duration are identified in these specifications.
