About this file

The file is a comprehensive technical specification document for the Suffolk County Community College's Smithtown Science Building Roof Replacement Project, involving William F. Collins AIA Architects and prepared on March 31, 2025. The project involves the complete demolition of existing roofing systems and installation of a new SBS modified bituminous membrane roofing assembly at the Smithtown Science Building located in Selden, NY. A mandatory pre-bid meeting and site visit is scheduled for April 10, 2025, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, with bidders required to assemble in Room 122 of the Smithtown Science Building on the Ammerman Campus. The project will utilize a single prime contract approach, with roofing work including comprehensive membrane replacement, insulation, flashing, and associated specialty components.

The technical specifications indicate a comprehensive project approach with detailed requirements for materials, installation methods, and quality assurance. The roofing system will utilize Johns Manville products, specifically a 30-year Peak Advantage No Dollar Limit Roofing System Guarantee, with a focus on high-performance materials including polyisocyanurate insulation, SBS-modified bituminous membranes, and specialized flashing components. The project emphasizes strict adherence to performance standards, with specific requirements for wind uplift resistance, fire ratings, and thermal movement accommodations. Electrical work required for equipment disconnection and reconnection will be performed by the Owner and is not part of the contractor's bid scope, which helps define clear project boundaries and responsibilities.
