About this file

This document is a Hot Work Permit (Form HW-1) that outlines the requirements for performing hot work in designated or permit-required areas at a National Park Service (NPS) facility. The permit must be issued and signed by the Permit Authorizing Individual or their designee before any hot work can be conducted in a non-designated location. The permit specifies the precautions that must be taken, including inspecting the work area, securing combustible materials, providing a fire watch, and conducting follow-up checks for 60 minutes after the work is completed. Hot work is prohibited in certain non-permissible areas such as sprinklered buildings with impaired protection, in the presence of explosive atmospheres, or in areas not authorized by the Permit Authorizing Individual. This permit is related to a federal contract opportunity for the REPLACE FIRE SUPRESSION - Construction project at the LYNCH-KENNEDY BLDG in Skagway, Alaska, solicited by the Department of the Interior National Park Service Alaska Region.
