About this file

This is Addendum #2 to Request for Bid Number 260221 issued by the City of Wichita, Kansas Public Works & Utilities/Engineering Department for the ASR Phase 3 Recharge Basins project (448-2023-040460). The addendum was issued on September 3, 2026, with a bid due date of Friday, September 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The document addresses clarifications to the project specifications and plans through responses to vendor questions submitted during the bidding process. Key clarifications include confirmation that alternative thin brick manufacturers (such as Endicott or Metrobrick) may be substituted for the Glen-Gery basis of design specification, that existing waterlines at RB09 and RB15 may be shut down to accommodate hot tap applications with butterfly valves, and specific pipe material identifications for tapping operations (36" DICL pipe at RB09 and 42" steel pipe with cathodic protection at RB15).

The addendum provides critical clarification regarding measured quantity line items for "connect to existing" piping connections at both recharge basin sites. For both RB09 and RB15, the "connect to existing" quantities include all connections to building under-slab piping plus one new connection to the transmission main at each site, with two of the three connections shown on the respective drawings actually connecting to new process piping being installed as part of the project rather than existing infrastructure. All vendors are required to electronically acknowledge receipt of this addendum through the City's Procurement Portal (wichita.gov/procurementportal) and submit acknowledgment with their bid proposals.

ADDENDUM NO. 2

TO

PUBLIC WORKS & UTILITIES/ENGINEERING

ASR Phase 3 Recharge Basins

448-2023-040460

RFB No. 260211

(SEPTEMBER 3, 2026)

The following changes and additions shall be made to the plans and proposal.

1. Bid Questions. The following questions concerning the project have been asked and a response in red has been included.

Our precast supplier says that the thin brick manufactured by Glen-Gery (named basis of design) is not PCI certified; that it may not come in a waxed option (necessary for embedment casting), and would cost upward of $14,000 more than veneers manufactured by Endicott or Metrobrick, who have similar styles. Can other manufacturers be utilized?

Yes.

On sheets C006 for RB09 and C017 for RB15, the connections to the existing waterlines are calling for butterfly valves at the tapping sleeves. Unless the water can be shutdown in the line being tapper, butterfly valves will not work in a hot tap application. Can the waterlines be shut down?

These lines may be shut down for this installation.

Related to the above, what type of pipe is being tapped for the 36” at RB09 and 42” at RB15?

The 36” is DICL and the 42” is steel with cathodic protection.

For RB09, sheet C005 recaps 1 EA of a Connect to Existing and C006 recaps 3 EA. There is no connection indicated on C005 and of the three shown on C006, two are actually connecting to process piping being installed as part of the project. Since these are measured quantity item, would they be underrun if the connection is not to “existing”?

The “connect to existing” included all connections to the building under-slab piping and 1 new connection to the transmission main for each site

Similarly to the above, for RB15, sheet C016 recaps 1 EA of a Connect to Existing and C017 recaps 3 EA. There is no connection indicated on C016 and of the three shown on C017, two are actually connecting to process piping being installed as part of the project. Since these are measured quantity item, would they be underrun if the connection is not to “existing”?

The “connect to existing” included all connections to the building under-slab piping and 1 new connection to the transmission main for each site

This Addendum is hereby made a part of the solicitation to the same extent as though contained in the original documents and all itemized listings thereof.

Acknowledge receipt of this Addendum electronically via City's Procurement Portal as a part of submission completion.
