About this file
Summary
This is a supplemental specifications document for the City of Wichita, Kansas, issued by WSP USA for the Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Phase III, Recharge Basins Project (Owner's Project Number 448-2023-040460). The project manual, designed by WSP USA Environment and Infrastructure and dated July 17, 2026, provides comprehensive technical specifications for construction services required by the Public Works & Utilities Department. The document establishes detailed requirements for concrete work, including cast-in-place concrete, precast structural concrete, reinforcement materials, formwork, finishes, and related construction methods. Specifications cover multiple divisions including concrete (Divisions 3-4), metals (Division 5), thermal and moisture protection (Division 7), openings (Division 8), finishes (Division 9), plumbing (Division 22), HVAC (Division 23), electrical (Division 26), earthwork (Division 31), utilities (Division 33), and process interconnections (Divisions 40 and 43). The document includes detailed technical requirements for concrete mixtures (Class A and B), surface finishes, curing procedures, quality control testing, and installation tolerances in accordance with ACI standards and PCI guidelines.
The specifications establish minimum compressive strength requirements of 4,000 psi at 28 days for both Class A and Class B concrete, with maximum water-cement ratios of 0.45 and specific exposure class designations per ACI 318. Precast structural concrete units include thin-brick-faced panels manufactured to specified dimensions and quality standards, with fabrication tolerances and finishing requirements per PCI MNL 116. The document mandates preconstruction testing, field quality control inspections, and special inspections for welds and bolted connections. Material certifications, shop drawings prepared by qualified professional engineers, and compliance with standards from ACI, ASTM, AWS, and other governing bodies are required throughout the project. Testing agencies must be engaged to verify concrete strength, consolidation, air content, slump, and other parameters, with detailed reporting requirements and acceptance criteria for all concrete mixtures and structural components.
