May 3, 2018 Solicitation 70Z087BPJT21100 ‐ Replace Piping LGH MOQs Contractor Questions and Answers; Questions 9‐10
Q9. Would a 200ppm chlorination test be acceptable in lieu of the specified test? The 200 ppm test only requires 2 hours to perform, while the specified test requires 24 hours. Down‐time would be reduced by employing a shorter duration test.
A9. The 200ppm chlorine pipe disinfection procedure will be acceptable in lieu of the 50ppm chlorine method in accordance with UPC 609.0 and AWWA C651. Please note that the wait time is 3 hours not 2 hours as mentioned in the bidder’s question. Also, the highly chlorinated discharge water from the 200ppm disinfection procedure must be treated differently than for the lower concentration method. It may not be discharged to the sanitary sewer system if quantities exceed 500 gal. The chlorine must be neutralized or the concentration diluted to acceptable levels in accordance with AWWA C655 and the
UPC.
Q10. Four Part Question:
A: Is the contractor expected to research previously issued documents in an effort to obtain accurate information or formulate their prices based on the simplified 2 page, official plan set?
B: Where is sod to be placed?
C: Please provide a detail and location for the required shut off valves and 3 way shut off valves.
D: Please provide a detail and location for the required sewer cleanouts.
A10. Reference Drawing Set Q24510.
A. No. The historic drawing files attached to the RFP were provided to supplement the construction drawings with historical information depicting the original pipe profiles since piping profiles were not included in the drawing set, although rim elevations and invert elevations were provided. The pipe quantities and types are included on the civil sheets and the information was taken from the best historical documentation we could find. However, actual conditions may vary from the documented conditions, thus the disclaimer in the specifications, and the unit pricing for some items, and the need for care when digging.
B. Sod must be placed to restore grass in areas disturbed by construction.
C. Valve locations are depicted on the Civil Plans and details are found on sheet C40 (27 OF 32)
Domestic Water Details. The detail depicted is for the shutoff valve and should have also included the following information for the 3‐way valves: "Three ways valves are similar, with each valve having a separate valve box and each valve and base section being wrapped three times in geotextile fabric."
D. Sewer cleanout locations are depicted on the Civil Plans and details are found on sheet C41 (28 of
32) Sanitary Sewer Details.
