Solicitation No.: 47PC0320R0004, Amendment 0005 January 19, 2022
Amendment 0005--Construction Manager as Constructor (CMc) for the Major Building Modernization Project at the Silvio J. Mollo Federal Building Project
Solicitation No.: 47PC0320R0004

Question 58
HVAC - Drawing # M060-02 - Fan Coil Unit Schedule - Provide manufacturer and model for all FCUs
Answer 58 A quantity has been noted on riser diagrams, and "typical" 5th floor for understanding of arrangement. The BOD for horizontal ceiling-hung units is IEC model HPY. The BOD for perimeter floor-mounted units is IEC model LXA.
RFI
Question 59 HVAC - Clarify seismic requirements for all MEP systems
Answer 59 Refer to details on M70-xx series drawings for equipment support. Building is Seismic Design Category B.
RFI
Question 60 HVAC - Clarify sound treatment scope for rooftop chillers on MTA structure
Answer 60
The rooftop equipment for the MTA building poses the acoustic challenge of abiding by the NYC noise ordinance because it is located directly next to the Metropolitan Correctional Center, which qualifies as a residential property. This means that equipment noise levels cannot exceed 45dBA when measured at the neighboring property line. With no mitigation measures, the sound levels from the cooling tower would significantly exceed the noise level limits at the Correctional Center.
Though more refined design will be required to implement this rooftop equipment successfully, two mitigation measures should be included in cost estimates at this time.
First, discharge attenuators will be needed on the outlets of the cooling tower fans to lower the levels being emitted from the top of the tower. This would be a similar implementation to the attenuators being used for the ASHPs on the Silvio Mollo rooftop. Second, an enclosure around all equipment should be included, as this is likely the only way to reduce levels sufficiently on floors that are immediately adjacent at the same elevation as the rooftop equipment.
RFI
Question 61 HVAC - Clarify non-combustible requirements of equipment.
Answer 61 Cooling towers for Mollo building and MTA building are to be FM-Approved construction.
This has been at times referred to as "non-combustible" during the design review process.
RFI
