Q1. Drawing PP101 #6 states to provide new shop air compressor, 80 gallon tank, 2-stage, 17.2 ACFM @ 175 PSI, Power 5HP, 230/160.
Spec Sec 221500 – General Service Compressed-Air System, page 7, 2.8 A, it states the compressor is oil-less and continuous duty, and 125 PSI.
Is oil-less required? Generally, a reciprocating compressor is not designed for a continuous duty application (reciprocating compressors do best at a 60 -70% duty cycle).
A1. No. The basis of design compressor is a Quincy QT-5.
Q2. An oil-less screw or scroll compressor may be a better choice for continuous duty if that is the case. What pressure is actually required, 125 PSI or 175 PSI?
A2. 175 psi.
Q3. Ref drawing 14A701- what type of wall finish is required within shower stall?
A3. Shower wall finish to be full height ceramic tile, CT-1, w/ bullnose edge, CT-2.
Q4. Are there existing fire protection drawings? (if so, I would like to add via the next amendment)
A4. Yes, see attached fire protection drawing as built for the basement.
Q5. Are there quiet hours? Can fire protection work be accomplished after normal hours?
A5. After hours work must be requested and approved by COR in advance. Fire protection work shall typically be conducted during normal business hours due to coordination with maintenance staff for the shutdown of the system. Off hours work can be requested if necessary, per the utility shutdown guidelines, but approval is dependent upon availability of staff. Review utility shutdown guidelines in 01 00 00 1.6.J
