About this file
This document contains Requests for Information (RFIs) and responses from J & G Solution, LLC and SterileCo. LLC for a VA (Veterans Affairs) project involving HVAC and mechanical system modifications. Key details include requirements for Siemens technician involvement in controls integration, VAV modifications in specific rooms (including room G-228), and installation of a new chilled/hot water cassette. Working parameters are restricted to 4:30 PM to 6 AM on weekdays, and all day on weekends and holidays. The project involves specific technical specifications such as duct sizing (8"x10" discharge duct), electrical wiring methods, and chilled water line installations using a "rule of 100'" for new lines. Critical contacts include Mr. Samual Fernand from Siemens (cell: 301-440-9356, office: 301-837-2600 Ext. 2648), who is the VA SIEMENS representative for the project.
The RFIs address multiple technical aspects of the project, including piping methods for the chilled water cassette (referenced to VA TIL requirements), disconnection means for inline fans, and confirmation of working conditions in occupied patient spaces. SterileCo's additional questions clarify that the new ductless cassette will use both chilled and hot water, with water mains located in the crawl space and mechanical room. No pre-read balancing or make-up air for the cassette is required. The project appears to be a VA facility mechanical system upgrade with specific technical and operational constraints.

2 . VAV Modifications and Replacements Solicitation Document Items 6 and 9 reference VAV modifications and replacements. Where are these rooms located? The room numbers in the scope do not match the sketches provided. Also, what is the current duct size at each VAV location?
Room for note is the same room as the Cosset is installed room G- 228.
3 . Ceiling Type in Exam Room
The updated Polytrauma Drawing shows a new Dual Duct Terminal Box in an exam room. What type of ceiling is in this room and in the adjacent office?
All ceiling are 2x2 drop ceiling.
4 . Duct Sizing for CFM
The updated Polytrauma Drawing shows an 8"x10" discharge duct from the new Dual Duct Terminal Box.
Is this size sufficient to achieve the desired CFM at the end of the new duct installation?
The dual duct that need to be connect to are26x10 and 18x 10 high pressure, 5 . As-Built Drawings
Can you provide any as-built drawings of the existing ductwork in this location?
Not at this time.
6 . Chilled Water Cassette Piping
For the new chilled water cassette installation, will ProPress or sweat piping be required? If sweat piping is required, what is the hot work process and is any air regulation equipment required?
Please refer to VA TIL for VA requirement.
7 . Electrical Wiring Method
The existing electrical panel is in the mechanical room. When installing EMT in the mechanical room, can wiring for the 120V circuit be changed to HCFMC cable once it enters the corridor?
No
8 . Disconnecting Means
What are your requirements for disconnecting means for the inline fan and the new cassette? Are disconnect switches required, or would a lockable toggle switch be acceptable?
Yes it must fallow the VA Til requirement.
9 . Work in Occupied Spaces
During the site visit, it was noted that patients occupy the space where work will be performed. Is any type of containment required to complete the work after hours?
No
10 . Working Hours
Please confirm the allowable working hours for this project.
430 PM to next day 6 AM or weekend and holiday all day.
11 . Chilled Water Line Length During the site visit, it was stated to bid the project using the rule of 100’ for new chilled water lines. Please confirm if this is still the case. Yes
SterileCo. LLC questions.
• New Ductless Cassette – Is this Chill water and Hot water cassette?
• Yes, the Cassette will use chilled /hot water
• Where are the Hot water and Chill water Main for cassette (how far are the runs)?
• Chille water main is located on the craw space as well as mechanical room crass the hallway. For the distance consider one hundred feet.
• Will there be a Pre-read Balancing?
• No
