About this file
This is a specification section for electrical wiring connections as part of project 25-388, a CBI HVAC and Lighting Upgrade. The document outlines requirements for electrical connections to equipment, including coordination with related electrical systems sections covering low-voltage power conductors, conduit, boxes, wiring devices, switches, and controllers. All work must comply with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) in its most recent edition as adopted by the authority having jurisdiction, as well as applicable NEMA standards for wiring devices. Contractors are required to obtain and review shop drawings, product data, manufacturer's wiring diagrams, and equipment instructions to determine proper connection locations and requirements before proceeding with installation.
Materials specified include cords and caps matching NEMA WD 6 standards with proper color coding per NEMA WD 1, flexible cord suitable for damp locations with identified equipment grounding conductors sized appropriately for connected load and branch circuit overcurrent protection, disconnect switches, wiring devices, flexible conduit, wire and cable, and boxes as detailed in referenced sections. Execution requirements mandate that electrical connections be made according to equipment manufacturer's instructions using flexible conduit with liquidtight connections in damp or wet locations, strain-relief clamps for cord connections, disconnect switches, controllers, control stations, terminal block jumpers, and interconnecting conduit and wiring to complete all equipment wiring requirements. Equipment connections include flexible conduit connections, cord and plug connections using NEMA 6-20R receptacles, and field-installed disconnect switches.
