TAILBAY STOPLOGS RECOATING
STATEMENT OF WORK
1 GENERAL
1.01 OVERVIEW
A. Work shall be performed in accordance with the terms and conditions contained in the base IDIQ contract.
B. The principal components of this work include the following:
1. Position and secure the stop logs in the AZ cradle pit.
2. Furnish and assemble scaffolding systems to access all areas of the gates.
3. Coating removal, surface preparation, recoating, and repair/replacement of wear parts of three (3) tailbay stoplogs.
4. Collect all waste including Quagga mussels for proper disposal at an authorized disposal site.
1.02 PAYMENT
A. Lump Sum. Capture all costs, including the cost of submittals, associated with the principal components of work. Use the template provided in Section 4.01 – Price Schedule.
1.03 PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
A. Contractor shall complete work within 120 days after issuance of Notice to Proceed.
1.04 SUBMITTALS
A. Prepare in accordance with the IDIQ Specifications.
B. Submit in accordance with Section 4.02 – Submittal Schedule.
2 PRODUCTS
2.01 METAL COMPONENTS
A. Bolts: ASTM A193 grade B8M class 2, with the following dimensions:
1. Type 1: 3/4 x 2-1/2 inch to replace rivets.
2. Type 2: 1/2 x 2-1/2 inch to plug ram mount and pipe clamp holes.
B. Nuts: ASTM A194 grade 8M to complement the above bolts.
C. Flat Washers: SS type 316, 1/2 inch I.D.
D. Side Rollers: ASTM A108. See drawing 45-D-6231 for dimensions.
3 EXECUTION
3.01 GATE POSITIONING
A. Furnish support blocks, tie-down cables, anchor plates, and any other cribbing equipment necessary to seat the gate safely and securely in the AZ cradle pit without causing damage. Note that the work site is subject to wind loads.
B. The Government will provide crane support for positioning the gates in the AZ cradle pit.
The Contractor shall request crane support from the COR at least seven (7) days prior to the anticipated lift date.
3.02 FASTENERS AND OBSOLETE EQUIPMENT
A. Remove all pipes and pipe mounts pertaining to the obsolete air ram system shown in drawings 45-301-5154 and 45-D-10926.
B. Plug ram mount and pipe clamp holes with Bolt Type 2, Nut, and Flat Washers. Caulk interfaces to create a watertight seal.
C. Remove corroded rivets as directed by the COR.
D. Remove, prepare, and paint corroded areas between the stiffener plate and skin plate as directed by the COR.
E. Reinstall the stiffener plate. Replace rivets with Bolt Type 1 Nut, and Flat Washers.
Caulk interfaces to create a watertight seal.
F. Remove side rollers and pins prior to painting. Refer to drawing 45-301-5154.
G. Install new side rollers and pins after painting. Existing roller mounts may be refurbished.
3.03 SURFACE PREPARATION
A. Prepare in accordance with the IDIQ specifications and Section 4.03 – Paint Schedule.
3.04 COATING APPLICATION
A. Apply in accordance with the IDIQ specifications and Section 4.03 – Paint Schedule.
3.05 CAULK AND FILLER APPLICATION
A. Caulk areas including gaps and crevices at bolts and rivets.
B. Fill areas including prepared pits, cavitation, and plate seams.

4.03 PAINT SCHEDULE
Items to be coated or repaired:
a. Tailbay Stoplog
Notes:
1. Do not coat stainless steel, bronze, or non-metallic surfaces.
2. Do not coat mating surfaces, seals, or surfaces where coating could interfere with proper operation or fit.
3. Coat all fasteners to include nuts, bolts, and washers.
Coating material: Priming sealer / Abrasion resistant epoxy

1 prime coat, apply at 1-2 mils DFT, followed by

2 coats, apply at 4-8 mils DFT per coat, plus stripe coats.
Finish: Manufacturer’s standard black or dark gray
