About this file
This document provides details for a federal construction contract opportunity issued by the Department of Agriculture Forest Service Southwestern Region. The solicitation seeks offers for construction services including site preparation, construction of a walkway and viewing platform, concrete sidewalk, and optional parking area improvements at two Coconino National Forest heritage sites. Offerors must visit the sites and submit responses by July 20, 2021. The contract is set aside for small businesses and has an estimated value between $100,000 and $250,000. The selected contractor will be awarded a firm-fixed-price contract considering best value with price reasonableness determined through competitive bids. The contractor must provide payment protection in the form of an irrevocable letter of credit, payment and performance bonds, or escrow account equaling the total contract value.

Response to RFI
1. Sheet 2 of the plans indicates that an archaeological monitor shall be onsite during excavation activities. Who pays for and schedules the monitor?
- The Forest Service will arrange and pay for the Archaeologist to monitor the site during excavation activities.
2.
There is not surface course aggregate called out in the project.
This should be grading D per table 703-2 in the specifications. MAG aggregate base course is very comparable and will be acceptable.
This is readily available in the local area. It is a ¾” mix design used in Flagstaff.
