About this file

This is a Bid Bond Form for the Marion County Board of County Commissioners in Florida related to the 26B-112 Rainbow Lakes Estates - Ivy Place Road Improvement Project. The bid bond serves as a financial guarantee that a contractor will enter into a contract with the county if selected and will provide performance and payment bonds as required. The form establishes the obligation of the principal contractor and surety to ensure faithful performance of the contract and prompt payment for labor and materials, with a penalty amount not to exceed the difference between the submitted bid and any higher amount the county may need to pay another contractor to complete the work.

The bid bond form permits contractors to submit either a traditional surety bond or a cashier's check in lieu of the bond. If a cashier's check is submitted, payments from the top three ranked firms remain in custody of Procurement Services until a contract is executed with the recommended firm and approved by the county. Firms are responsible for retrieving bond checks or providing courier information for return; firms requesting standard USPS delivery must submit written notice relieving the county of liability for lost or misdirected mail. The form requires signatures from the principal, surety, and witnesses, along with completion of all required fields including the bid number, project title, dollar amount, company addresses, and the state where the surety is authorized to conduct business.
