About this opportunity

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting bids for on-call tree removal services in Greenville County under an Invitation for Bid, with proposals due August 24, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. and questions due August 7, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. No pre-bid conference or site visit is scheduled.

Bidders must demonstrate a minimum of five years of documented experience directly related to tree removal work and provide references and documentation of comparable contracts. The scope encompasses cutting and leaving, cutting and removing, and cutting, removing, stump grinding, and traffic control services on SCDOT-maintained roads throughout Greenville County at the direction of the Resident Maintenance Engineer. A preliminary inventory identifies 62 trees for removal across multiple county roads, ranging from 6–12 inches to 60–72 inches in diameter, with the largest concentrations in the 18–24 inch and 24–36 inch categories; however, no minimum quantity of work is guaranteed, and quantities are demand-driven and location-variable. Work requests will be distributed as needed by SCDOT prior to scheduling.

The contract period is estimated from September 21, 2026, through September 20, 2029 (three years), with the actual start date specified in the notice of award. Award notification will be posted September 9, 2026. Pricing is on a unit basis per tree per size category; contractors must submit unit prices for each service type and assume all responsibility for equipment, labor, materials, transportation, debris disposal, site restoration, damage claims to third-party property, utility locating and protection, and work zone traffic control compliant with MUTCD and NCHRP 350 standards. Non-compliance with specifications can result in non-refundable deductions ranging from $500 to $750 per offense or per business day. Award will be made to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. Offers must be submitted online.
