About this opportunity

Marion County Public Schools is conducting a competitive procurement for Electrical and Lighting Supplies through Bid 4120GM, seeking a term contract to secure firm pricing for electrical and maintenance-related items used across the school district. The solicitation, issued by the School Board of Marion County, Florida, aims to establish a contract for electrical components, lighting supplies, and related materials needed for daily maintenance operations, with a contract period from May 1, 2025, through April 30, 2026. Vendors must be manufacturer-authorized dealers capable of providing both warehouse stocking and convenient counter sales locations within or near Marion County. The bid requires detailed pricing for over 245 line items, including specific electrical components like switches, wall outlets, wire, conduit, light fixtures, and bulbs, with strict requirements for product specifications and color (predominantly ivory-colored). Key dates for this procurement include a bid response deadline of March 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with board approval scheduled for April 22, 2025. Evaluation criteria suggest the potential for awarding contracts "by item" or to multiple vendors based on the most advantageous pricing for specific products.

The procurement allows for participation from companies both inside and outside Marion County, with potential preference given to Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) in the event of tied bids, as per Board Policy po6320. Four vendors have already submitted responses: World Electric Supply LLC, Future Plus of Florida Inc., Lamp Sales Unlimited Inc., and Lighting N Beyond LLC. The estimated budget for this contract is approximately $300,000 for the initial contract period, with potential for three additional one-year renewals by mutual agreement. Vendors must provide proof of insurance, comply with federal grant management requirements, and adhere to regulations regarding debarment and suspension. The bid includes a 15% in-store discount requirement for items not contained in the primary bid list, and vendors must demonstrate the ability to provide comprehensive electrical and lighting supplies with consistent pricing throughout the contract term. Additional considerations include compliance with public records regulations and prohibitions against contracting with scrutinized companies.
