About this opportunity

Pikes Peak State College is requesting quotes for the removal and replacement of two cooling tower units at its Center for Healthcare Education & Simulation campus in Colorado Springs under Documented Quote DQ 27-004, with quotes due September 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM MST — tomorrow. A jobsite visitation was held September 10, 2026. Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) respondents may qualify for preference; SDVOSB certification documentation is mandatory if claiming the preference.

The scope includes removal and disposal of two existing, corrosion-deteriorated cooling tower cells and support pads; installation of two new CTI-certified cooling tower cells with gravity flow return controlled design (EVAPCO or equivalent); new concrete support pads; piping, electrical connections, insulation, service platforms, and ladders; equipment isolation and lockout/tagout; crane and rigging; permit acquisition and coordination; third-party structural inspection; startup verification; and site cleanup. Respondents must provide all structural engineering and design for new support pads. Fiberglass field-assembled cooling tower systems are acceptable alternatives to stainless steel if needed to meet the accelerated schedule; conventional stainless steel carries a 20–25 week lead time. Existing motor starters should be reused; variable frequency drives are mandatory only if required by the tower selection. Setpoint Systems is the College's controls integration vendor. A minimum one-year warranty on equipment, materials, and installation workmanship is mandatory.

Contract award is anticipated September 15, 2026, with desired start December 7, 2026 and project completion by January 8, 2027. Firm pricing must include all delivery, installation, and services. Contractor insurance must include workers' compensation, general liability ($1,000,000 minimum), automobile liability ($1,000,000), protected information liability ($1,000,000/$2,000,000), professional liability ($1,000,000), and crime insurance ($1,000,000), with the State named as additional insured. Price is the primary evaluation factor; sample quality and lead time are secondary considerations. Quotes must include an IRS Taxpayer Identification Form and PERA Retiree Questionnaire. Submit to James Gellenbeck, Director of Procurement and Contracts, at procurement.bids@pikespeak.edu.
