About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically the Veterans Health Administration's Veterans Integrated Service Network 10, has issued a Special Notice regarding salt tank repairs at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center (RLRVAMC) in Indiana. The notice indicates the agency's intent to negotiate a sole source contract with Sexson Mechanical Company, LLC under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) for urgent facility maintenance. The procurement falls under NAICS code 237110 for water and sewer line construction, with a small business size standard of $45.0 million. The special notice is not a competitive solicitation but allows for potential alternative proposals that demonstrate clear advantages to the government. The notice was posted on December 23, 2024, with a response deadline of December 26, 2024.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to secure immediate repairs for the salt tanks at the VA Medical Center, which requires the selected contractor to mobilize quickly to remove brine, salt, gravel, and residue, thoroughly clean the tanks, and replace two damaged float valves. Contractors interested in submitting a response must email their proposals to Courtney.Seevers@va.gov and Tiera.Sims@va.gov by 10:00 AM EDT on December 26, 2024, with no telephone inquiries accepted. While the notice indicates a sole source intent with Sexson Mechanical Company, LLC, it leaves open the possibility for other contractors to provide compelling evidence of competitive advantages. The period of performance for the contract is from December 26, 2024, through March 6, 2025, with strict adherence to all contract specifications and conditions. Contractors should note that the government retains sole discretion in determining whether to compete the opportunity, and any responses must provide clear and convincing justification for alternative approaches.
