About this opportunity
This notice seeks a contractor to provide recyclable recovery services for over 160,000 tons of municipal solid waste annually from 47 federal buildings in the Washington D.C. area. The General Services Administration's National Capital Region Public Buildings Service will evaluate responses to determine procurement requirements and approach for sorting waste using a dirty materials recovery facility to recover recyclables like paper, cardboard, plastic and metal. Interested parties must be able to comply with all applicable laws and provide monthly recovery reports. Responses are due by June 8, 2020.
This opportunity is designated as an 8(a) competitive set-aside. Respondents should be able to perform services under NAICS code 562920 and PSC code S206. As the estimated annual waste is over 160,000 tons, this single-award contract would likely be a multi-million dollar agreement lasting several years to provide comprehensive recyclable recovery for all waste streams from 47 federal sites across the metropolitan region.
Notice text
The Service work includes a company that can process Recyclable Recovery Services; “All In One” Municipal Solid Waste-MSW, also known as Mixed Waste Processing-MWP or using a “Dirty Materials Recovery Facility-MRF.”
MWP is a one-container system where we (the Federal Government) place all trash and recyclables in one container with no separation. This container would be transported to you (the Source) for sorting to glean recyclables. Your facility would then use a combination of machinery and/or human hands to sort.
