About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 1 is seeking a contractor to provide a Siemens MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T MRI Scanner Mobile Unit for the Northampton VA Medical Center. The procurement is structured as a base contract with four option years and requires the mobile MRI system to be housed in an OEM-approved trailer. The solicitation calls for one MRI technologist and one MRI assistant to be included with the mobile unit, with full preventative maintenance and repair service coverage. While specific evaluation criteria are not explicitly detailed in the available documents, the contract appears to prioritize technical capabilities, service responsiveness, and compliance with VA medical equipment standards. The solicitation was posted on December 19, 2024, with responses due by December 31, 2024, indicating a relatively tight turnaround for potential bidders.

The contract opportunity is not designated as a set-aside for any specific business category, making it open to a broad range of potential contractors. The procurement falls under NAICS category 621512 for Diagnostic Imaging Centers, with a size standard of $19 million. The mobile MRI unit will be positioned at the Northampton VA Medical Center, serving the medical imaging needs of the facility. While precise award value is not specified, the comprehensive nature of the contract—including equipment, technologists, and maintenance—suggests a significant potential contract value. The base contract plus four option years indicates a potential long-term engagement, with the initial deployment aimed at addressing the medical center's diagnostic imaging requirements through a mobile solution that provides flexibility and continuous service capabilities.
