About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source purchase order to Lab Products of Aberdeen, Maryland for specialized laboratory supplies. The procurement involves 25 cases of 100 wedge-shaped threaded water bottles (15 oz.) and 25 cases of 100 high-temperature plastic twist caps required as replacement parts for ongoing laboratory operations. The items will be delivered to NIH's facility at 9000 Rockville Pike in Bethesda, Maryland. The contract value is estimated to be below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold of $250,000 and will be conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The sole source justification is based on the proprietary nature of these items, which are specifically designed by Lab Products to be compatible with existing laboratory equipment.
The primary purpose of this notice is to inform the marketplace of NIH's intent to proceed with a non-competitive procurement while providing an opportunity for other potential sources to demonstrate their capabilities. Interested contractors must submit written notifications of interest and capability statements by 10:00 AM Eastern Time on July 10, 2025, via email to holleyv@od.nih.gov. To be eligible for consideration, contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) with current representations and certifications. This notice explicitly states it is not a request for proposals or quotations, and no solicitation package will be made publicly available. The government reserves sole discretion in determining whether to conduct future competitive procurements based on responses received, with information being used only to assess whether competition would benefit future acquisitions.
