About this opportunity
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency seeks proposals to design, develop, and flight test an end-to-end prototype system enabling a novel ground-launched tactical weapons deployment system through its Operational Fires Integrated Weapon System opportunity. Proposals are due by August 5, 2019 and are sought for three phases including preliminary design, critical design, and assembly, integration and testing. DARPA plans to make multiple Phase 3 awards and exercise options for Phase 3b and potential Phase 3c work. Questions were addressed at a June 4, 2019 Proposers Day and are contained in documents providing attendees lists and the questions and answers.
There is no set-aside designated for this opportunity. Potential contractors who attended the June 4, 2019 Proposers Day include Aerojet Rocketdyne, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon Missile Systems, and Sierra Nevada Corporation. Phase 3 of the project expects contractors to integrate prototype booster solutions into a missile system and conduct a flight test demonstration by 2022, utilizing innovative technologies for liquid and hybrid propellant mixtures, pintle motors, variable thrust nozzles, pulse motors, and re-ignitable propellants developed through two rocket/engine hot/static fires within 24 months.
