About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center announced on August 21, 2026 its intent to sole-source the purchase of a fluorescent cell culture microscope from Alpha & Omega Microscopes; the notice opens a ten-day window for other responsible sources to submit capability statements by 12:00 PM Eastern time on August 31, 2026. The equipment supports mycobacteriology research at the Clinical Center; NIH asserts that sole sourcing is necessary under FAR 6.302-1 because only Alpha & Omega can satisfy agency requirements, and delay would jeopardize time-sensitive experiments and waste previously invested research funds. This is a Notice of Intent, not a request for proposal. Any contractor that believes it can meet the requirement may submit a capability statement to valerie.gregorio@nih.gov with subject line NOI-OLAO-CC-26-008695. The Government reserves sole discretion to determine whether to compete the requirement based on responses received. The NAICS code is 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance), and the PSC code is 6640 (Laboratory Equipment And Supplies).
