About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health seeks to procure a Tecan Fluent 780 liquid handling robot system with cabinet and accessories from Tecan to increase automation capacity at its Intramural Sequencing Center. The Center processes approximately 7,000 DNA and RNA samples annually for the National Institute of Human Genome Research. Proposals are due by June 17, 2022 and will be evaluated based on the technical acceptability of the Tecan equipment to meet requirements, the contractor's ability to deliver and install the system within 10 weeks of award, and price reasonableness.
There is no set-aside designation. The place of performance is Rockville, Maryland. As the current incumbent, Tecan is the only acceptable source due to the need for compatibility with existing laboratory infrastructure. The total contract value is estimated at $750,000 with delivery required within 10 weeks of award by August 26, 2022.
Notice text
The purpose of this requirement is to procure for the NIH Intramural Sequencing Center (NISC) for the National Institute of Human Genome Research (NHGRI) a Tecan Fluent 780- and system cabinet with accessory items.
The NIH Intramural Sequencing Center (NISC) is a high throughput facility for performing DNA sequencing. NISC provides services for all institutes and centers of the NIH. Approximately seven thousand samples are processed each year at this facility. In order to process this number of samples various forms of automation are incorporated, including robots capable of processing at least 96-samples at a time. Recent increases in demand for sequencing RNA samples and whole genome sequencing have put an added stress on NISC resources requiring additional automation and replacement of old equipment.
