About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health (NICHD) issued a Notice of Intent to sole-source a firm-fixed-price research purchase order to the University of Illinois (UEI: Y8CWNJRCNN91) for analytical services in a Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome treatment study, with responses due by August 18, 2026. Small businesses, including 8(a) firms, service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, HUBZone businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, veteran-owned businesses, and women-owned businesses, may submit capability statements by 10:00 a.m. EST on August 18, 2026 to compete.
The work involves analyzing sterol and oxysterol levels in serum and cerebrospinal fluid samples from SLOS patients and controls to assess vitamin E therapy efficacy. Dr. Stephanie Cologna of the University of Chicago, an expert in mass spectrometry, will develop the measurement methodology and conduct the analyses. NIH determined the University of Illinois is the only known responsible source capable of meeting technical standards under FAR Part 6.302-1. Award is anticipated approximately ten days after the notice date unless another organization demonstrates capability to perform the work.
Small businesses must submit written capability statements via email to Niamh.Cawley@nih.gov. All travel, labor, materials, and related charges are included in the purchase order price.
