HANGAR 36 MULTIPLE PROJECTS

RFI’S

1. The SOW states to demo the wall separating the shower and the toilet. This SOW also states to rebuild wall correctly. Is it safe to say that the existing plumbing to tie into for the HW/CW along with the drain are close to the vicinity of the demo and new install for this shower? We would have to stub off existing plumbing for both. Please advise.

Reply: Yes you will stub off the HW/CW pipes that are in the demoed wall.

2. The SOW states to strip existing painting on walls and piping w/e to any red/emergency painted piping/devices. Is this correct? Or are we to only paint the walls and exclude all piping/tape off all piping.

Reply: Pipe that is the same color as the walls will be scrapped and repainted. Any pipe that is not the color of the walls such as red fire alarm or yellow natural gas will be masked.

3. During the walkthrough we had mentioned sand blasting the existing paint to get a more quality look to the new paint job. We were told that no sand blasting would be allowed. If we were to tape off/isolate the work areas, utilize negative pressure as specified, and find a way to suction the sand at the same time the blasting would occur, would we be able to utilize the sand blasting technique? If these techniques cannot be utilized than the walls will have to be prepped by hand scraping/wire brush techniques which would not give as high of a quality look due to the walls being CMU block and not all paint is chipping.

Reply: Media blasting is not an option for this hangar and the option for media blasting or sand blasting is removed from the SOW per this response. We cannot allow extra sand or grit items into the hangar. Whatever dust is made by paint removal must be contained and will require containment as specified by the SOW.
