About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) regarding the replacement of the main switchboard in Building 2593.
The RFI addresses five key areas related to the 2000A switchboard replacement project. Regarding manufacturer preference, four primary options are presented: Schneider Electric (Square D MasterPact/Model 6) is noted for excellent federal support and common use in USACE facilities; Eaton Pow-R-Line/Magnum DS for military installations; Siemens Sivacon/Sentron for selective coordination capabilities; and ABB/GE ReliaGear for legacy system support. For temporary backup power during weekday outages, four Priority 1 panels require support: Fire Alarm Control Panel, Server Room, Security systems, and Building Automation System (BAS). Priority 2 includes Telecom, Priority 3 includes HVAC serving IT, and Priority 4 includes general office panels (not backed up) and lighting panels (case-by-case determination). During long weekend outages, the facility must maintain Fire Alarm, Security/Access Control, Server Room, Network equipment, BAS, and any systems supporting adjacent facilities, while most office lighting and receptacle panels can remain offline until Monday morning. The base utility company will shut down the utility transformer, with Government personnel operating all Government-owned medium-voltage switching equipment; contractor personnel are prohibited from operating primary distribution equipment unless specifically authorized. The facility currently has no maintenance history for the utility transformer disconnect switch, requiring the contractor to perform testing before any planned outage.
