Draft RECAP PD Vr59 15 June2016
3.5.12.1.6 Economizing mode. The PPUs shall contain an economizing mode feature that provides automatic load management function when the operating PPUs are in the automatic mode. The Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) within the PPU will monitor the load on the common bus, start the generator set and place generator sets on-line and remove generator sets off-line depending on load demand. The load management threshold shall be adjustable and be based on both (kW/kVA) of the rated capacity of each of the on-line generator sets. The system will always maintain one generator set on-line. When the PPUs operate in the automatic mode, the default setting for economizing is on. The economizing feature shall be capable of being disabled at the DCS or remotely when connected to a PC/computer. When economizing is disabled, the PLC will not take generator sets off-line if the per unit load falls below the threshold. However, the PLC will place an additional generator set on-line if the threshold is exceeded even when economizing is disabled. Generators will be placed on line based on lowest engine hours and removed based on highest hours.
3.5.12.1.7 Remote functions. A remote control capability shall be provided to control the PPU from a remote location a maximum of 250ft away. The necessary interfaces shall be provided where control of starting and stopping, AC circuit interrupter, Emergency Stop and Battleshort functions, along with set operational monitoring as specified herein, shall be accomplished from a remote site.
