Questions and Answers

#
Question
Answer
1
Our bulk size autoclave we have is 49x49x86. The specification states 49x64x100. Would our size offering for the bulk unit be acceptable?
No. This autoclave is heavily used and requires maximum throughput. The larger autoclave is required to support our mission.
2
Vendors were asked to provide pricing for flooring replacement. This is not typical for an autoclave manufacturer representative. It would require any bidder to have to sub contract an appropriate flooring company. A General Contractor would offer a better service for that. Please advise on whether flooring is required. If so, please provide the acceptable flooring type, color and square footage per room.
Yes, flooring is required. Offeror usually have a third party that does the service for them.

Material needs to be epoxy.

Each vendor needs to get their measurements.

3
During the site visit it was mentioned that steam filters should be included in the bid. This is not listed in the scope of work. Please advise.
It is listed on the MECs and listed on page 17 of the solicitation.
4
All equipment was requested to be removed from the installed location and then transported from the building. The solicitation states that the equipment would be left on the dock. Please advise.
Yes, offeror will need to dispose of all equipment. Change was made due to transportation issue on Logistics.
5
We are under the impression that the existing bulk unit would be a direct replacement. The current unit utilizes transfer carts and carriages. The solicitation reads that it would be replaced with a floor loading type autoclave. Is the solicitation correct in the specification or are you looking for a direct replacement for the unit in the cage wash area?
The solicitation is correct.
6
The specifications says 44"+6" tolerance so we are at maximum width of 50" on the medium units throughout the building. Can you extend that measurement to 53.5"?
The width of the door opening must be appropriate for the specified dimensions requested for the door (49” x 64” x 100”).
7
Is a 7" touch screen acceptable? The solicitation asks for "Approximately 10" touch screen operator interface panel"
Yes A 10” screen is preferable, but a 7” would be acceptable.
8

Page 16 MECS Autoclaves: The existing autoclave in GW58 does not have an air-differential seal. It is simply recessed in a stainless steel wall. Please confirm it will not be upgrading to an air-differential seal. (Air Differential Seal is required for applications that require a negative or positive air pressure differential between two rooms adjoined with an autoclave. The seal prevents the bulk passage of air between areas maintained at a pressure differential. A stainless steel barrier flange is welded to the periphery of the sterilizer and solid-silicone gasket secures the welded seal to the wall and permits normal expansion and contraction of the building).

With regards to “the ability to monitor the life cycle of parts,” PRIMUS monitors the number of times major components are cycled and alerts the user/maintenance personnel when the parts are close to the estimated end of life. This allows maintenance personnel to predict when parts may need to be replaced and therefore allows them to order parts ahead of time to minimize downtime. Is this what is being specified? If not, can more detail be provided on this requirement?
Yes. Tracking of major components replacement and useful life is a requirement.
88
Are steam pressure regulators required for all autoclaves?
Yes.
89
What is the minimum required chamber finish for the autoclaves? Note that a higher-grade finish (<10Ra) will ease the cleaning of the autoclave and increase autoclave longevity.
10 Ra is sufficient.
90
Can more detail on the vacuum source for each autoclave be provided? The specification states “a vacuum source that reduces water consumption.” It is our understanding that a water recirculation system utilizing a water ejector is required for the medium autoclaves and a liquid ring vacuum pump is required for the bulk autoclave.
