Requests for Information (Q&A) for Install AV Bldg 590 W50S7Z-20-Q-0014 RFI: W50S7Z-20-Q-0014 Install A V Building 590 All Rooms:
· Ceiling heights and type of ceilings (drop tile or finished) Drop Tile, heights vary. MBR is 12ft, Command Post is 10ft, Ops Desk is 11ft 4in, Break Rm 142 is 11ft 4in.
· Will any of the AV equipment be residing on the client’s network, or is it to remain isolated? Yes
· Is floor track or surface mount wire mold preferred when wall penetration isn't possible? Panduit is preferred for surface mounted wall applications, the carpet is a glued tile which is removable and we would prefer a flat cable to be installed under the tile.
Main Briefing Room #124: confirm equipment quantities
- Equipment rack is a wall mount rack, where will it be mounting? On the North wall close to the corner where the North and West walls meet.
1) The LWR-1228 does not have sufficient space for the needed equipment. Can we assume that we can use a larger LWR-2123 rack? Yes, supply us with what you believe is necessary for proper functionality.
2) Because the ceiling is better than 11” tall at the presenters location and the furthest viewer is nearly 30’ from the screen wall we would suggest using a much larger progressive 1.1 HD screen that is 78” X 139” (159” diagonal) lit by a higher output HD projector eliminating the need for the additional two 90” displays. Would this be acceptable? We have addressed this in the SOO V2
3) Because the back wall is better than 34’ from the presenter making the intelligibility of writing even on a 90” display impossible we would suggest using two (2) 55” displays ceiling mounted over the first row of seats as the confidence monitors. Would this be acceptable? After reading our updated SOO V2 which addresses screen size, if you believe this is necessary than yes include it.
4) What are the sources for content in this room? Is there to be NIPER and SIPER content from PC’s and VTC in this room? Yes Nipr and Sipr in this room. VPC is also required.
· Scope specifies 6 inputs, what will these inputs be (laptop, pc, blu-ray, etc) and where will they be located in the room? Multiple cpu’s and laptops. Located in the northwest corner of room
5) Should this room be equipped with Audio conferencing capabilities? Yes
· Are the microphone(s) only for sound reinforcement within the room or will there be any audio conferencing? There will be audio conferencing
6) To better cover the room and allow for lower volume we would suggest ceiling speakers rather than the two wall mounted cabinets. Would this be acceptable? We want ceiling speakers
· Material list specifies wall mount speakers, is this preferred over in-ceiling speakers
7) The consumer grade Furman M8 is no longer available; we would suggest a TAA compatible Surgex SX-DS-158. Would this be acceptable? Yes
8) For the Shure BLX consumer grade wireless, can we assume that a wireless lavalier microphone is needed? If so we would suggest using a Shure SLX124/85/SM58 combo system with one hand held and one lavalier microphone. Would this be acceptable? That material list was put together by another vendor for our market research. Use whatever equipment/items you think we need to make the system work properly. But this room has a no wireless requirement.
· How many microphones should there be? Please clarify if they are to be lapel or handheld or a combination of both. 1, podium mounted and hand held
· Are the microphone(s) only for sound reinforcement within the room or will there be any audio conferencing? Both
9) If this room is to have multiclassification (NIPER/SIPER/ SECRET) content, are we to assume that automated signage for inside of the room and outside of both entry doors should be added as per military requirements? No
10) Where will the touch screen be mounted in the room, and will it be wall or table mounted? On the podium
11) The material list is missing a control processor. Should one be added, or will it be provided? It will not be provided, if we need one, include it
Training and Conference Room 135
1) Please provide a functionality scope Read the SOO V2
2) The SOO document lists 70” Samsung. There is not a 70” Samsung. We would suggest a 65” Samsung for this room which is plenty large enough. Would this be acceptable? The monitors going in this room will be provided by the User.
3) What are the sources to be in this room? Is there to be NIPER and SIPER content from PC’s and VTC in this room? Yes there will be both Nipr and Sipr in this room and no VTC is required.
4) How many sources are to be in this room and where are they to reside? 2 sources: 1 Nipr cpu and 1 Sipr laptop. Nipr cpu on conference table, Sipr laptop on desk on west wall.
5) The SOO document lists flat HDMI cable to be placed under the carpet. This is a short-term solution for a long-term problem and a fire hazard as there is power on an HDMI cable. We would suggest the use of an ADA compliant “Over-the-Floor” Wiremold product. Would this be acceptable? Yes
6) The SOO document lists an extension system for “outside sources”. Where is this extension system to be utilized, i.e. where is the transmitter end being placed and is there a wire path in place? We don’t believe this is necessary for the room based on its use. 2 sources. 1 nipr and 1 sipr.
7) Where is all of the equipment to reside in this room? SOO V2 explains this
8) Should this room be equipped with Audio conferencing capabilities? No
9) Should this room have a simple control system with wall plate or touch panel control? Yes, Wall plate if necessary
CAT Room 132
1) Please provide a functionality scope SOO V2 should explain this.
2) The SOO document lists 70” Samsung. There is not a 70” Samsung. We would suggest a 65” Samsung for this room which is plenty large enough. Would this be acceptable? Yes, and it does not have to be Samsung, we are not specifying brands on the new SOO.
3) Is the Panduit cable covering for the wall? Yes
4) The SOO document lists 42” Samsung. There is not a 42” Samsung. We would suggest a 43” Samsung for this room, however we don’t see where this size display would be useful in this room. 5) What are the sources to be in this room? Is there to be NIPER and SIPER content from PC’s and VTC in this room? Both Nipr and Sipr. No VTC
6) How many sources are to be in this room and where are they to reside? 2 cpu’s total. 1Nipr cpu on south wall and 1 Sipr cpu pn south wall
7) The SOO document lists an extension system for “outside sources”. Where is this extension system be utilized, i.e. where is the transmitter end being placed and is there a wire path in place? Same answer as the first time this was asked above
8) Where is all of the equipment to reside in this room? Already answered
9) The SOO document lists a Kramer 4 X 1 HDMI switch. What connects to this switch and where it to reside? Vendor determines if this is necessary based on the users explanation of the use of this room.
10) The SOO document lists three (3) 35’ HDMI cables. HDMI cables of that length are reliable for any content above 720p. We would suggest using an active fiber HDMI cable. Would this be acceptable? Also what are these cables connecting to? Don’t use our measurement distances stated in the original objectives. If you determine we need cables that long than provide us with the proper cables necessary for proper use.

We would suggest the use of an ADA compliant “Over-the-Floor” Wiremold product. Would this be acceptable? No, there is ample conduit in place to run cables from desk to wall. It is preferred that you use the conduit.
5) The SOO document lists flat CAT cable to be placed under the carpet. This is a short-term solution for a long-term problem and a fire hazard as there is power on an CAT cable. We anticipate all equipment will have 2 digital outputs. Not sure of connection type yet (DisplayPort vs HDMI) Will any of these multi-outputs be connected to a desktop monitor? There is a good chance a desk near the front of the room will have two monitors as well.
How many Crestron HD-EXT-C-B wall plate transmitters are needed in this room? UNK There is not a Crestron DM-RJ45 part number but there is a DMC-STR part number. What is the correct part number? We would like the system to be able to handle a video teleconference system Is the purpose of the Cisco switch for the av system? Does the army intend to put the Crestron Matrix switcher and Crestron control processor on the Army’s network or have an AV VLAN? A VLAN will most probably be the solution for any devices requiring an IP or network backbone and connectivity.
