As it relates to TEMPEST the below will apply:
1. Separation requirements still have to be met (.5 Meters/19 inches) for equipment, (.05 meters / 2 inches for monitors)
2. Unclassified VTC equipment should only be used when room is sanitized, and should be facing a bare wall if possible.
3. Members entering room must meet security clearance requirements.
4. No cellphones, smart watches, etc. should enter the room, even if SIPR VTC is not running.
5. Any KVMs/Matrix Switches must abide by/meet the following: Approved KVMs: The AF CTTA does not maintain an approved listing of KVM devices (see ESIM 2014-04, Rescinding AF-CTTA ABKVM Policy). KVM switches, A/B switches, and "matrix" switches that deal with multiple levels of security (NIPR and SIPR) are products whose primary role is not security, but they do provide security services as an associated feature of its intended operating capabilities. Because of this feature, they are considered IA-enabled products and require Common Criteria certification. DoDI 8500.01, Cybersecurity, states that all products that either protect classified information or are IA/IA-enabled comply with the evaluation and validation requirements of CNSSP 11, National Policy Governing the Acquisition of Information Assurance (IA) and IA-Enabled Information Technology (IT) Products . CNSSP No. 11 requires evaluation under the Common Criteria program at National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). Since the NIAP is part of the Common Criteria Partnership, there are evaluated KVMs on the Common Criteria Portal (http://www.commoncriteriaportal.org/). Type "KVM" in the search box for the most efficient method of finding approved products on the Common Criteria Portal.
