RFI Tracker
| RFI # | RFI - Request for Information: Questions or problems found. | Column1 | Answer | |
| RFI # 1 | It mentions on A201 that there is an external sign and says to see Signage Schedule. The only exterior building detail is an address number. Will there be a larger sign on the building | Exterior signage to be GFGI - P. McKenna. Signage is limited to Just building address number- T Bahr. | ||
| RFI # 2 | Request for Crane Data: | See attached 740_3_Ton_Crane_1989 | ||
| RFI # 3 | What are the specs on the solid surface countertops and the Plam cabinets? | Color and Finish can be assigned (INANG would like Jacobs to assign a commercial grade color and finish for bidding purposes - P. McKenna) - Please use DuPont Corian solid surface. Final color to be selected from manufacturer's full color palette but until final selection please use color Everest for countertops, back, and side splashes; use color "Designer White" for integral sinks.n - T.Bahr | ||
| RFI # 4 | We downloaded the RFP documents from SAM; however, the project specifications seem to be missing. Can you provide the project specifications asap so we can send to our trade partners? | Specifications uploaded on 6/13/2023 | ||
| RFI # 5 | Product substitution request : Lee Company’s request to provide Metpar CH-700 Solid Plastic Toilet Compartments for Section 102113.19 Plastic Toilet Compartments on the IANG Weapons Release Building 764 project. | Metpar solid plastic toilet compartments are acceptable to include for solid plastic toilet compartments. | ||
| RFI # 6 | SF 1442 states that the period of completion is 365 calendar days. However, Spec Section 01 14 00 -3 states that “Building 764 will be unoccupied and fully available during the designated period of construction – 720 calendar days.” Please clarify what the 720 calendar days refer to. | Section 1.5 H of Specifcation should read as follows: H. Building 764 will be unoccupied and fully available during the designated period of construction - 365 calendar days. | ||
| RFI #7 | There appears to be some conflicting statements and confusion in regard to the signage for this project. Please confirm that the signage is Contractor Furnished & Contractor Installed. | Exterior signage to be GFGI - P. McKenna | ||
| RFI #8 | Drawing I-101 lists the Overhead Crane as GFGI while A-101 states the crane is GFCI. Please clarify who will be responsible for installing the 3-ton crane. | The crane is to be GFCI - P. McKenna | ||
| RFI #9 | Assuming the Contractor is responsible for relocating the 3-ton crane, how is the government anticipating that the crane to be removed from the existing location: as the roof appears to be leaking, is it being replace and the bridge crane is supposed to be removed during that project? Can we to take out walls to create the space needed to get it out the overhead door? Is the plan to cut the crane in half and weld it back together in the new location? Please provide drawings of Bldg 740 so we can develop the proper plan. | INANG Instruction: See attached: See attached 740_3_Ton_Crane_1989. See attached Drawings for Bldg 740:Built_1989-90 East side of the building accounts for overhead door below the 1T Crane (1T-1) which opens to the exterior. There is a 6070 door from the 3T Crane bay shown in (3T-8) to the adjacent room which aligns at least to a degree with the OHD. Support the crane beam in place, disassemble the supporting components, lower the crane beam to ground level place on rollers and walk it out of the building to the east. | ||
| RFI #10 | Spec Section 11 14 00 states that the existing 3-ton crane is to be relocated. However, during the site visit it was stated that the 1-ton crane is also to be relocated and drawing E-703 references the electrical panel to be used for the 1-ton crane. However, we can’t find the 1-ton crane on the drawings. Please clarify if both cranes need to be relocated by the GC and if so, where the 1-ton crane is going to be reinstalled | The relocation of the 1-ton crane is excluded from the scope of work at this time. - T. Bahr, P. McKenna | ||
| RFI #11 | Can we please schedule a second site visit to further analyze how to relocate the 3-ton crane (assuming that this is part of the scope of work for this project)? | A secondary site visit was held July 6th at 10:00 with the requesting contractor | ||
| RFI #12 | Depending on the date of the second site visit, please extend the bid date to allow for sufficient time to develop pricing. | Bids are currently due August 9 | ||
| RFI #13 | Please confirm that this project is tax exempt. | The project is tax exempt | ||
| RFI #14 | On P-501 Detail 4 (D4), is the Speedaire Model 42L01 Airline Filter/Regulator meant to be 4ZL01? Is this line supposed to be in ½” or ¾”? Also, the 4ZL01 shows 212 CFM flow instead of the 140 CFM flow listed in the drawing, would this be the right item? | Provide 3/4" compressed air drop and line to Speedaire Model 4ZL01. Reduce to 1/2" inlet size of filter regulator and increase from 1/2" outlet size of filter regulator to 3/4" pipe size downstream of regulator as indicated in detail. | ||
| RFI #15 | Drawing, P-501 shows Detail B1 Flush Valve Trap Primer. Are we able to use trap seals in lieu of the trap primers? | No, trap seals are not allowed. Provide trap primers as indicated. | ||
| RFI #16 | Do the hydronic piping joints need to be brazed or can they be a ProPress system? | |||
| RFI #17 | Drawing G-101 lists F.E. to be GFGI. Drawing A-101 shows locations of F.E. in semi-recessed F.E. Cabinets. Please confirm that Contractor is to provide and install the F.E. Cabinets without F.E. | Fire extinguishers to be GFGI - P. McKenna | ||
| RFI #18 | Please provide drawings showing the existing floor finishes. | The new floor finish will be either sealed concrete or stained and sealed concrete - P. McKenna. - The existing floor finishes in LSC Office 110, Weapons Manager 111, NCOIC Office 112, Line Shop Office 113, Hallway 109, and Training 102 are understood to be VCT. The existing floor finishes in the locker rooms rand restrooms are ceramic tile. The existing floor finishes in the Tool Room 99, Mechanical Room 104, and Electrical Room 105 are either sealed or un-sealed concrete. The existing floor finishes in Hangar Bay 101 appear to be painted and sealed concrete. | ||
| RFI #19 | Drawing C-102 shows a 10’ x 12’ area that per the Legend is to be “Proposed Concrete Pavement.” However, there does not appear to be a detail drawing that shows what that entails. Please provide a detail showing the elements of this concrete pavement. | See attached: B764_RFI19_Concrete Pavement Detail | ||
| RFI #20 | Drawing A-522, Detail A4, shows the Floor Painting Striping Plan. However, none of the drawings indicate where this pattern will be needed. Please provide a floor plan that shows where the Striping will be required. | Detail B4/A-522 is to be used at emergency eyewash/shower locations and dimensions are to be 3'-0"x3'-0". Detail A4/A-522 is to be used in Hangar Bay 101 to denote safe walking path around perimeter of Hangar Bay to ramps and doors. Final path to be coordinated with INANG. - T.Bahr | ||
| RFI #21 | The finish schedule calls out PLAM-1 as TBD. Please select a Manufacturer and color so our quote can be as accurate as possible, or verify that a standard priced laminate will be selected. | Acceptable manufacturers are listed under part 2.1,E, in specification section 064116. In addition to those listed, Wilsonart is an acceptable manufacturer. Final color is TBD and will be selected from the manufacturer's full commercial color options. - T.Bahr | ||
| RFI #22 | The finish schedule calls out SSM-1 (solid surface) as plastic laminate, also TBD, at 2CM. Please provide a product selection for all countertops and windowsills so we know if it is solid surface, laminate or quartz. | SSM-1 is to be solid surface, not plastic laminate. All countertops and window sills, where located, are to be solid surface. Please use DuPont Corian solid surface. Final color to be selected from manufacturer's full color palette but until final selection please use color Everest for countertops, back, and side splashes; use color "Designer White" for integral sinks. - T.Bahr | ||
| RFI #23 | In the Solid Surface specifications, page 2 states that the solid surface is ¾” thick. Please acknowledge that solid surface materials are ½” thick as noted in the windowsill details. | Solid surface materials can be revised to 1/2" thick in lieu of 3/4". Countertops, back, and side splash thickness can change to 1/2". Front of countertops can be built up to 1-1/2" thick with eased edges in lieu of 1-1/34" thick in detail B5/A-550. - T.Bahr | ||
| RFI #24 | The Solid Surface specifications also call out Chain-of-Custody certificates for the wood products on page one. Is this a mistake? FSC Chain-of-Custody is not called out in Division 064116, and there is no LEED checklist to verify if certified wood is required. | Chain-of-Custody certificates can be omitted. - T.Bahr | ||
| RFI #25 | This project requires the steel fabricator to be AISC certified. Can this be waived? | Per the specification section 051200 1.6.A, IAS AC 172 may be used in lieu of the AISC certification for fabricator qualification criteria. Waivers of AISC certification or IAS acceptance criteria must be reviewed and approved by the Government. | ||
| RFI #26 | Is the Unitron Flatpack UDC-420W 28VDC GPU inverter to be supplied by the Electrical Contractor or the Owner? | Contractor is responsible to furnish and install in accordance with Specification Section 262550. | ||
| RFI #27 | Can epoxy anchors be used to secure the 3-ton crane to the footings instead of anchor rods being inserted into the new footings? | Epoxy anchors may not be used in lieu of anchor rods for the 3-ton crane. Bid as shown in the contract documents. | ||
| RFI #28 | P-501 Detail C3 shows an AMI Meter. What is the model for this and is there to be a flow conditioner provided? | Basis of design meter would be Dresser Roots, B3-5M175, with temperature compensated counter. Flow conditioner not required. | ||
| RFI #29 | P-501 Detail C3 shows the Motorized Gas Shut-Off Valve. However, there does not seem to be a drawing that shows the wiring for this valve. Please provide details on how this valve will receive power. | Motorized gas shut-off valve receives control signal from boiler emergency power off switch as indicated on sheet M-803 in the sequence of operations C.1 as requried by ASME CSD-1. Provide low voltage wiring from boiler emergency power off switch to motorized gas shut-off valve. | ||
| RFI #30 | P-501 Detail C3 calls out an earthquake valve Please confirm that these are actually needed. | Provide earthquake valve as indicated. | ||
| RFI #31 | This project requires the steel fabricator to be AISC certified. If the steel fabricator is not certified, but is a member and implements a quality program that is equal to or exceeds the requirements in the AISC certification program, can this requirement be waived? | Per the specification section 051200 1.6.A, IAS AC 172 may be used in lieu of the AISC certification for fabricator qualification criteria. Waivers of AISC certification or IAS acceptance criteria must be reviewed and approved by the Government. | ||
| RFI #32 | PD-101, General Note #3 states “existing double bowl freestanding sinks located in adjacent building……” Please clarify which “adjacent building” this is referring to and provide drawings that show the location of these sinks. | Intent was to relocate the existing sink from Building 740. | ||
| RFI #33 | Is there a current lightning protection certificate in place? | No | ||
| RFI #34 | Does it have a grounding loop/counterpoise? If so, has it been tested/verified and what size of conductor is it? | No | ||
| RFI #35 | Are there test wells for the grounding system? | No | ||
| RFI #36 | There are no make-up water lines shown on the drawings and there should be, could this be fixed? | Unclear what they mean by “make-up water lines”. Need more information. | ||
| RFI #37 | Can we get more info on the doors themselves: | |||
| • | Such as door sizes and stile dimensions? | |||
| o | We want to make sure all the hardware will be compatible with the doors. | Reference the door schedule and specifications or request specific door information or schedule an additional site visit to gather information - P. McKenna | ||
| RFI #38 | Since the existing building will be unoccupied during construction, can I assume that the new sanitary and water services don’t need to be in place prior to removing the existing services? | The building will be unoccupied so it will be the contractors responsibility to phase work in a logical sequence - P. McKenna | ||
| RFI #39 | What overcut is required for the spread footings, walls, etc.? | If the intent of this question is to establish boundaries for excavation, refer to specification section 312000 3.3 for general discussion. If excavation requires layback due to soil conditions, follow OSHA requirements. Consult geotechnical engineer for additional recommendations. | ||
| RFI #40 | Will phasing be required for the asphalt and concrete pavement removal to allow for access to the building? | The building will be unoccupied so it will be the contractors responsibility to phase work in a logical sequence - P. McKenna | ||
| RFI #41 | Can the stone subbase under the existing concrete and asphalt pavements be left in place since most of the site requires filling? | Geoetechnical should have the final say on whether this is acceptable or not. The Slab-on-Grade Recommendations section in the geotech report should adequately cover this requirement | ||
| RFI #42 | How do we best handled multiple dump/delivery trucks coming and going through the security gate and would we need to provide an escort? | The delivery trucks will be inspected by security and the contractor will be required to provide an escort - P. McKenna | ||
| RFI #43 | Can more details be provided about where and how the proposed 10” water line gets connected to the existing water line inside the limited access area? Do we reuse the existing connection or will a new tapping sleeve and valve be required on the line in the limited access area? If we reuse the existing connection, is there a valve that can be shut down that we would connect to? If a new connection is required, what size is the existing line in the limited access area? Is there any pavement that would have to be restored within the limited access area? | The existing connection will not be re-used as the existing main is smaller (8") than the proposed main (10"). Therefore, a new tapping sleeve and valve will be required. The existing public main that is being tapped is 12". According to information available at the time of design, no additional pavement, outside of the building parking area, is located in the path of the proposed waterline. | ||
| RFI #44 - FUTURE | Substitution request: LockersMFG in lieu of Penco | If substitution is in line with the specifications or better then there is no objection. Jacobs has reviewed and it appears that the LockersMFG locker meets and/or exceeds the specified locker specifications and warranty and has no objection to it. - T Bahr |
