PROJECT DCFT142001
SOLICITATION/IFB # W50S7U‐22‐B‐0001/CES BASE FIRE SUPPRESSION REPAIR
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) #1 09 DECEMBER 2021
Q1. Are COVID vaccines mandatory?
A1. Please refer to the guidance on the Safer Federal Workforce website. This is the website given in the Class Deviation 2021-O0009 “Ensuring Adequate COVID-19 Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors”. As guidance is subject to change, the website provides you the most current information.
Q2. What kind of time should we plan each day for security checks at the gate, etc.? After initial clearance, will long term passes be provided for the duration of the project?
A2. Prior to mobilization, key project personnel from each trade can submit background check information and temporary badges will be issued. Once you are issued a badge, you will approach the gate like everyone else and will not have to stop at the search area. All workers, without badges will need to stop at the search area for approximately 15 minutes to be searched.
This includes concrete trucks and other deliveries. Badges will be issued with an end date similar to the estimated completion date of the project.
Q3. What is the thickness and reinforcement in the existing pavement to be removed, assuming you’ll want a bid from us on that scope?
A3. We are not exactly sure of the construction of the existing foundations under the pump house and tank since we do not have record drawings. Please use best judgement when estimating for demolition based on standard construction of this size tank. See keyed notes 1 and 7 on demolition sheet and all area should be re-graded and seeded.
Q4. Please clarify if a tax exemption letter will be provided for this project.
A4. Yes, a tax exemption letter can be provided.
Q5. Please confirm that Special Inspections will be required per Specification 01 45 37.
A5. A licensed special inspector is NOT required to be on site 100% of the time as indicated in this section. The site will require supervision and QC 100% of the time and those individuals will be designated in writing by the GC. Items listed for special inspection can be inspected during submittal phase with warranty information, special credentials or other product data.
Certain items such as concrete, soils, welding and plumbing tests shall be inspected by outside agencies for strength or pressure, for example.
Q6. Please confirm that a separate full time on-site CQC Manager is required for the project if project is over $750,000 per Specification Section 01 45 00.
PROJECT DCFT142001
SOLICITATION/IFB # W50S7U‐22‐B‐0001/CES BASE FIRE SUPPRESSION REPAIR
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) #1 09 DECEMBER 2021
A6. The CQC Manager(s) will need to be specified in writing and submitted to the COR and KO for approval. An engineering or architecture degree is NOT required but site supervision experience or experience in this type of project should be listed in written justification for this manager(s).
Q7. Specifications sections 04 20 00 paragraph 1.2 A and 04 26 13 paragraph 1.2 A state “Face brick is part of the Face Brick Allowance,” but we are unable to find any further direction on the Face Brick Allowance. What amount or standard should be used for this allowance?
A7. All face brick used on this project is on the new pump house facility. No allowance is required since all dimensions are shown on the new work architectural plans. Coordination may be required between the mason and the tank manufacturer where the new tank meets the masonry walls. Amount of masonry shall be bid based on A-101 and A-201.
Q8. Are as-built drawings available for the existing pump house and tank? Specifically need to know the foundation/slab designs and thickness of steel tank walls.
A8. No as-built drawings are available. Please see answer number 3 above.
