Answer: Attached are the drawings that the vendors had in question. The drawings have all the detailed information needed to requisition the part. The drawings coincide with the Navy MTVR Cable Assemblies Notes.
Question #2: Company Sourcing Team is having great difficulty obtaining quotes on the Glenair products specified in Tobyhanna’s data package. Glenair has decided to NO Quote our company. Per our distribution channel, Glenair is willing quote Tobyhanna directly. Is Tobyhanna willing to provide the Glenair material as CFM.
The SOW calls for Black Zinc Nickel connectors and backshells qualified to 1,000 hours resistance to salt spray. At this time, there are no equivalent options available that will meet the 1,000 hour test requirement. We do have product that’s qualified for 500 hours, if this would be an acceptable alternative solution.
If Tobyhanna is not able to provide the Glenair material as CFM nor allow the 500 hour product, then unfortunately we will not be able to prepare a proposal response for the Wednesday, May 17th due date.
Answer: Glen Air and other manufacturers are in the process of renewing their QPL for the M85049 MILSPEC backshell as there was a revision to the requirement for the Black Zinc Nickel. Glen Air and other manufacturers have the ability to provide commercial grade backshells as a substitute until they reacquire their QPL status. The customer has been contacted and approves the use of the commercial grade backshells as a suitable substitute.
The part number is the same other than the M85049 is replaced with GS85049. The requirement for Black Zinc Nickel is still a nonnegotiable where called out in the TDP. The Glenair commercial equivalent P/N will be incorporated into the TDP prior to award.
