Amendment 0003
1. The purpose of Amendment 0003 is to answer vendor’s questions, provide a revised Statement Of Work
(Attachment 1 – Revision highlighted in yellow), and provide cut sheet for lighting fixture (Attachment 2).
Question 1. The bid information lists an Orion lighting fixture and then has the standard “or equal”.
I have contacted Orion but to date have been given the run around as far as who is pricing the package.
I am being proactive due to the fact that in looking at the “or equal” with my lighting rep in the
Reno area, they have found an issue with meeting a spec, so every manufacture they represent will not offer pricing due to that spec that none of them can meet. In trying to contact Orion to see if they can meet the spec, no one will talk about or confirm they can meet it from Orion.
The spec section I refer to is 26 51 00, page 49 of the spec book. Section 2.1.1 has a table, in that table on the last line “LED Low Bay/High Bay”. The minimum efficiency is listed as 190LPW.
According to every lighting manufacture contacted for “or equal”, none can do what this number requires.
Answer 1. Market research has been done on this type of LED with efficiency more than 190LPW.
Question 2. Specification Section 26 51 00 1.6.1.1 Page 49 “provide Luminaire Useful Life Certificate”
Thermal properties of the specific luminaire and local ambient operating temperature and conditions must be taken into consideration.
Please provide normal ambient temperatures for Low Bay/High Bay and Food Rated Vapor Tight fixtures.
Answer 2. The operating ambient temperatures should range from -22deg F to 131deg F (-30deg C to 55deg
C).
Question 3. Specification Section 26 51 00 2.1.1 Page 49 LED Luminaires Chart
LED Low Bay/High Bay, Minimum Luminaire Efficacy 190 LPW, 70 CRI, 10 year warranty, L70 150000 Hrs.
The current industry standard for LE is 135 LPW, but it is advancing every year.
Do you have a specific product part number specified to comply with this requirement?
Answer 3. Yes, the approved manufacture is Orion ISON High Bay HBIF3 or equal.
Question 4. Lighting Floor Plan - Warehouse 30 Section 1 & 2 Existing Lighting System
Confirm lighting fixture mounting height.
Answer 4. Mounting height of the fixture in Warehouse 30 Section 1 and 2 is approximately 27ft.
Question 5. Confirm the mtg distance fixture to fixture, center to center, row and column distances.
Answer 5. The mounting distance from fixture to fixture is approximately 20ft. We are not sure why this question is asked, the project is to replace fixture for fixture at the same mounting height and fixture to fixture distance.
Question 6. Are product sourcing standards to comply with TAA or other governing agency?
SP3300-17-B-0002
Amendment 0003
Answer 6. We are not familiar with TAA (Trade Agreements Act) policy, but all material in this project shall be made in America and shall meet the Buy American Act.
Question 7. Can the existing lighting relay enclosures be used as junction boxes to terminate existing lighting circuits at warehouse 30?
Answer 7. Yes, the relay enclosures shall be used as junction boxes to terminate the lighting circuits.
Question 8. Are there any specific areas where work has to be scheduled after hours or over weekends?
Answer 8. No, all work shall be done during business hours 7:00 AM 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Question 9. Do the existing light ballasts contain PCBs?
Answer 9. Contractor shall bear the responsibility of determining if existing light ballasts contain PCBs. If
PCBs are present the ballasts must be disposed of in accordance with the provisions in the
Statement of Work (SOW).
Question 10. Are there any environmental issues (ie. Lead, Asbestos, etc.) that the contractor needs to be made aware of in order to bid this project properly?
Answer 10. No environmental issues regarding presence of lead or asbestos at this time. However, if gypsum board walls or ceiling are to be disturbed during construction, the COR must be notified in advance for further evaluation.
2. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
